Aspiration Quality odds favour in-form fillies and mares with previous winning form at the Randwick mile and those coming off a good lead-up run in similar grade in Sydney. 

Mares drawn in barriers 1 – 8 head the Aspiration Quality betting markets as no winner has jumped from wider than gate eight in the race’s history. 

There have been plenty of upsets in recent years including the 2021 success of Missybeel at Aspiration Quality odds of $61! 

Lekvarte ($4.20 in 2024) was the last Aspiration Quality favourite to win. 

Aspiration Quality Field

The Aspiration Quality race field attracts a strong line-up of fillies and mares, many of which are eyeing bigger targets over the coming weeks in Sydney. 

Nice lead-up races into the Aspiration Quality field include the Group 2 Guy Walter Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on Verry Elleegant Stakes Day (Chipping Norton Stakes Day) and the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) in mid-March at Rosehill.

Le Lude (3rd in 2022) and Lekvarte (5th in 2024) are the latest Millie Fox Stakes graduates to back-up and win the Aspiration Quality.

Following a run in the Aspiration Quality field mares may head to the Group 3 Epona Stakes (1900m) a fortnight later at Rosehill Gardens.

Fibrillation (2012) was the last to complete the Aspiration Quality – Epona Stakes double in the same year, while Missybeel won the 2020 Epona Stakes and the following year’s Aspiration. 

In 2021, She’s Ideel ran placings in the Millie Fox (3rd), Aspiration (2nd) and Epona (3rd) before her Group 1 Tancred Stakes (2400m) second and subsequent fourth over the two miles in the Group 1 Sydney Cup (3200m) that autumn. 

Aspiration Quality nominations close on the Monday before the race followed by the final field of acceptances and barrier draw on the Wednesday.

2024 Aspiration Quality Field

The official Aspiration Quality 2024 Field of fillies and mares will be published below the Wednesday leading-up to Randwick Guineas Day. 

The consistent Joe Pride-trained Group 3 winner Lekvarte heads betting on the 2024 Aspiration Quality final field in Sydney on Saturday.

Aspiration Quality Tips

Aspiration Quality tips include backing any proven Group 2 mares down in grade, looking for those with previous winning form over the mile and getting behind graduates of the Millie Fox Stakes. 

Another good Aspiration Quality betting tips is to back mares that have contested the race in the past with many returning to run in the money more than once, and backing the runners drawn in single-digits.

Interesting edition of the Aspiration with plenty of form line to consider, but have landed on the returning Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained daughter of Zoffany, Osmose, who was doing some eye-catching things in the spring. She isn’t the most noted first-up runner (5:1-0-0), but on class alone think she can surprise here. Last start in November was runner-up at Flemington in the Group 2 Matriarch Stakes (2000m) beaten a nostril flare. She is yet to win over further than 1300m, but that run suggests a mile first-up will suit and Waterhouse & Bott are masters of placing their mares in the right races at the right time. Slick second in a recent Randwick trial, gets things her way from gate four, and Tim Clark has plenty of experience on her.

The Aspiration Quality form has gone on to stack-up in tougher races many times over the years including when dual winner Nettoyer went on to win the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) after her second success in 2020. 

Nettoyer has a long history of runs in the Aspiration Quality having contested four editions running 3rd in 2018, 1st in 2019, 1st in 2020 and 8th in 2021. She further franked the form of the race off her unplaced 2021 run when winning the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes three runs later in an upset.
