Contested over 1200m, the event offers $150,000 in prize money and is held during the Hobart Cup Carnival, which is headlined by the Group 3 $300,000 Hobart Cup (2400m) held two days later.

Inaugurated in 2006, the Bow Mistress Trophy has held Group 3 status since 2012 and is named in honour of one of Tasmanian’s greatest race horses Bow Mistress.

The event was renamed ahead of the 2024 edition in honour of former top line Tassie filly, Mystic Journey, who famously won the Group 1 Australian Guineas – All-Star Mile double in 2019 as a three-year-old in Melbourne.

The latest edition of the Bow Mistress Trophy ran on Friday February 9, 2024 as the Mystic Journey Stakes during the Hobart Cup Carnival and was won by the Lindsey Smith-trained four-year-old from Warrnambool, Yellow Sam ($2.70F).
