Season 10 of the A-League enters the first round of finals this weekend, in which the six remaining teams will be whittled down to four.
Semi final berths up for grabs when Adelaide United face Brisbane Roar on Friday night and Melbourne City travel across the Tasman to play a Phoenix side who will be keen to make amends for a disappointing loss at home last week, on Sunday afternoon.
We’re offering the best odds on the widest range of markets for both A-League Elimination Finals this weekend!
Adelaide United vs Brisbane Roar
Adelaide United have been there or there abouts all season and enter Week 1 of the A-League finals in winning form after comfortably beating Melbourne City 4-1 at Hindmarsh Stadium last Saturday. Becoming the inaugural winners of the FFA Cup in December, Adelaide have somewhat flown under the radar since returning from the Asian Cup break but rightfully ended the regular season third overall. Reigning champions Brisbane have been anything but convincing this season, and while producing some good results against credible opposition, have been unable to post much of a consistent run of form and enter Friday’s Elimination Final having finished seventh overall; gifted a berth following Perth Glory’s omission for breaching the salary cap. Securing a confidence boosting win at home over the lowly Jets last weekend, the Roar are capable of brilliance on their day but probably face too great a task in front of the parochial Adelaide crowd to advance to the semi-finals.
Wellington Phoenix vs Melbourne City
In what looks likely to figure as the more well-contested Elimination Final, fourth-placed Wellington host the fifth-placed Melbourne City at the Cake Tin on Sunday afternoon Australian time. Wellington reached top spot on the A-League ladder as recently as four weeks ago but failed to consolidate the position; winless in their next three. Having dropped all the points to Sydney FC in a 2-1 loss last weekend, the ‘Nix were held to a nil-all draw with City in Round 25 but will be confident of a more favourable result at home. Key Phoenix signing Nathan Burns will be looking to extend his impressive season tally of 13 goals. Melbourne City were one of the league’s slowest starters this campaign but found winning form at the right point of the season; all but securing their post season position close to one month ago. Aaron Mooy has been tipped by many to win the Johnny Warren medal this season and the City midfielder will have to produce another brilliant performance if his team is any chance of progressing to the semis. Wellington deserve to be favourites to win this match but have faltered at home several times recently, meaning City may be worth consideration for a bet at current odds.
