Sydney FC vs Chelsea Preview

Facebooktwittermail

Following last weekend’s impressive effort against Tottenham Hotspur despite losing 1-0, A-League Grand Finalists Sydney FC are back in action against 2014/15 Premier League champions Chelsea at ANZ Stadium at 8:00pm AEST tonight.

Alongside eventual champions Melbourne Victory, Sydney FC were standouts through season 10 of the A-League and will be full of confidence leading into what is arguably their biggest test to date against the reigning English champions after holding Spurs to a low-scoring win on Saturday.

Chelsea has travelled to Australia with a near-full strength side which saw off a Thai All-Stars team 1-0 in Bangkok thanks to an impressive effort from youngster Dominic Solanke on Saturday.

We’re offering the best odds on the widest range of markets for Tuesday’s friendly between Sydney FC and Chelsea!

Sydney FC

Sydney were far from disgraced by Tottenham on Saturday; who dominated a large amount of play but managed to break the FC defence only once. Striker and Captain Alex Brosque was undoubtedly offered Sydney’s best chance of scoring on Saturday night but was unable to make it count – finishing is one thing that needs to drastically improve if the Sky Blues are any hope. Sydney are in the right form for a competitive performance but undoubtedly have to improve substantially to compete with one of the world’s best teams.

Chelsea

Chelsea conclude their two match post season tour in Sydney and will be confident of ending their Premier League-winning season with a  comfortable win over Sydney FC. Manager Jose Mourinho used Saturday’s match in Thailand as an opportunity to blood young players in a competitive environment alongside some of his stars. Confirming the likes of Hazard, Remy and Costa will take the field tonight, it is likely Mourinho will employ a similar tactic and allow academy players plenty of time. Having wrapped up the title close to a month prior to the end of the Premier League, Chelsea ended their campaign with a comfortable 3-1 win over Sunderland and are primed for a similar result tonight.

Sydney FC vs Chelsea Betting

We’re offering markets on everything from first goal scorer to handicap betting and everything in between on tonight’s friendly in Sydney!

Diego Costa finished the Premier League season third behind Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane in Golden Boot standings; netting 20 despite missing several weeks through injury. Backing the Spanish national to open the scoring ($3.80) looks a smart betting play, while his opposite number Shane Smeltz can be taken at a quote of $10 in the same market.

Sydney’s scrambling defence meant Tottenham were only able to score once on Saturday night, so backing a low affair is also worth consideration. We’re currently offering $2.75 for less-than 2.5 goals to be scored tonight.

Overview

In all likelihood, Chelsea will continue their unbeaten post-season run past Sydney FC tonight. Never out of place against the world’s best clubs in the European Champions League, Chelsea will look to take control of the football from the game’s first kick and are offered scoring opportunities from nearly every corner of the pitch. Sydney will take some confidence from their low-scoring loss but face an even greater task in Chelsea and more than likely, will simply not muster enough of a resistance.

We’re backing Chelsea to beat Sydney FC 2-0.
