Week 10 of the English Premier League has the potentially to be the most exciting from a fans’ perspective, owing to a number of key derbies and clashes between teams of similar form.
In a week that will see this season’s first edition of the Tyne Wear Derby, the ten English Premier League matches are undoubtedly headlined by the 170th Manchester Derby at Old Trafford early Monday morning Australian time.
We’re offering the best odds on all ten English Premier League matches in Week 10!
Norwich City vs West Bromwich Albion
Norwich City went into their match with Newcastle as clear favourites last week but failed to capitalise on a team that prior to the fixture appeared ‘down and out’, and were delivered a crushing 6-2 defeat. West Brom produced a reasonably polished all-round effort to see off a spirit, albeit lowly Sunderland 1-0 and have climbed to thirteenth position overall as a result of the win. Ordinarily Norwich would be a justifiable clear favourite to take out this game at home, but it is pretty hard to back them off the back of last week’s performance. A draw at current $3.35 odds represents great value.
Cameron Jerome scores and Norwich wins: $5
Saido Berahino scores and West Brom wins: $9
Aston Villa vs Swansea City
Aston Villa and Swansea City both suffered defeats in Week 9 of the Premier League, and will each view this match as an ideal opportunity to return to winning form. For Villa, the beginning of this season has been far from ideal and they sit trapped second-last overall and appear as though they will be locked in the relegation dogfight all season. Things aren’t nearly as dire for Swansea, however the solitary Welsh outfit in the Premier League won’t be happy with how their campaign has progressed so-far, owing to the credibility they have built through recent seasons. Villa at home appear a little better than Villa on the road, but Swansea represent too good value not to consider for success this weekend.
Jordan Ayew scores and Villa wins: $8
Andre Ayew scores and Swansea wins: $7
Leicester City vs Crystal Palace
In what has every chance of figuring as the best match in week 10 of the Premier League barring perhaps the Manchester Derby, in-form clubs Leicester City and Crystal Palace meet at King Power Stadium early Sunday morning Australian time. The Foxes found great form to remain in the Premier League last year and have picked up where they left off; sitting fifth overall following a number of impressive performances and win over credible opposition. Palace have stamped themselves as mainstays in England’s top flight and sit only one point behind their week 10 rivals sixth on the Premier League ladder. It is simply too hard to split the pair, but if one team is to win it will probably be Leicester at home.
Jamie Vardy scores and Leicester wins: $5
Yannick Bolasie scores and Palace wins: $9
Stoke City vs Watford
Stoke and Watford are probably both yet to hit peak form through the 2015/16 Premier League season but have done enough to pull comfortably clear of the drop zone ahead of their week 10 clash. Stoke have started to gather more and more momentum as their plethora of new stars begin to gel, while Watford have not looked a team amidst their first year back in the Premier League and appear as though they could be in for a long stay. Stoke were too good for Swansea in Wales last week, while the Hornets can probably be forgiven for losing to a rampant Arsenal. Stoke play in front of one of the league’s most parochial crowds and that could mean the difference this weekend.
Bojan scores and Stoke wins: $6
Troy Deeney scores and Watford wins: $9
West Ham United vs Chelsea
West Ham appear to have returned to the form that has delivered their best results in the Premier League through years gone by this season and sit fourth overall. What has been particularly impressive about the Hammers’ season is their wins over Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United away from home. Having comfortably seen over Crystal Palace 3-1 last weekend, West Ham is perched in an ideal position to continue Chelsea’s woes, who remain 12th overall after continuing the worst ever start to a Premier League season by a reigning champion. Chelsea travelled to the Ukraine mid-week and face an uphill battle in this fixture.
Dimitri Payet scores and West Ham wins: $10
Diego Costa scores Chelsea wins: $4
Arsenal vs Everton
Arsenal have returned to demolishing form through recent weeks and enter their week 10 fixture with Everton off the back of a comfortable 3-0 win over London rivals Watford and a confidence-boosting 2-0 champions league win over superpower Bayern Munich mid-week. Within a win of the top-placed Manchester City, Arsenal deserve to be clear favourites over a Toffees outfit that were beaten 3-0 by Manchester United in week 9, and who are winless since week 7.
Alexis Sanchez scores and Arsenal wins: $3
Romelu Lukaku scores and Everton wins: $15
Sunderland vs Newcastle United
The Stadium of Light is the scene for this season’s first edition of the Tyne Wear Derby between bottom-placed Sunderland and third from bottom Newcastle; positions that are sure to add extra spice to what is already a spiteful rivalry. The Black Cats remain without a win through the first nine starts, while Newcastle finally got on the winner’s list with their impressive demolition of Norwich last weekend. Sunderland actually have the edge over their North England rivals through recent years and tend to grow in form and strength each time they line up against the Magpies. Sunderland as a result offer excellent value for money at $2.50 odds.
Jeremain Lens scores and Sunderland wins: $7
Georginio Wijnaldum scores and Newcastle wins: $8
Manchester United vs Manchester City
Undoubtedly the week’s headline fixture, fierce rivals United and City line up for the first time this season at Old Trafford early Monday morning Australian time. United is the only team other than City to feature atop Premier League standings this time, and whoever wins this fixture will be top of the league leading into Week 11. Both teams played well in the Champions League mid-week and both teams recorded big wins in the Premier League last weekend. This will be the first Manchester Derby for a number of key players in both Blue and Red and the result will likely fall to the team that handles the pressure better. Toss a coin.
Wayne Rooney scores and United wins: $6.50
Raheem Sterling scores and City wins: $7
Bournemouth vs Tottenham Hotspur
The newly-promoted Bournemouth host the ever-dangerous Tottenham early Monday morning. The Cherries began their campaign well and worked their way to the middle of the ladder by week 5, but have somewhat fallen out of touch and now sit 17th overall on just eight competition points. Spurs took a few matches to find form and took plenty of confidence from a big win over Manchester City but are winless in their last two Premier League fixtures. Bournemouth suffered a heavy defeat in week 9 and will probably be outclassed by Spur this weekend.
Glenn Murray scores and Bournemouth wins: $7
Harry Kane scores and Spurs win: $5
