Week 6 of the A-League will feature two Friday night matches, but undoubtedly peaks with Saturday’s F3 Derby between the Jets and Mariners and the season’s first edition of the Big Blue.
Brisbane Roar will keep the pressure on league leaders Sydney FC if they can defeat Perth Glory at home on Sunday.
We’re offering the best odds on the widest range of markets for all five matches in Week 6 of the A-League!
Wellington Phoenix vs Adelaide United
Wellington Phoenix did enough to escape with a 1-1 draw away to the Mariners in Week 5 but will be confident of a return to winning form at home against the out-of-favour Adelaide, who are yet to win a match in season 2015/16. Wellington have the class on paper to be one of the A-League’s brightest lights but for one reason or another appear incapable of finding good, consistent form and sit seventh overall. In Adelaide the result could be different, but at the cake tin and in considering both teams’ form it’s hard to see Wellington losing.

Melbourne City vs Western Sydney Wanderers
The league’s two newest franchises meet in Week 6 of the A-League when Melbourne City host Western Sydney on Friday night. In what is sure to add extra spice to the match, both teams remain locked on seven competition points from five matches and tied fifth overall. Melbourne City have scored a league-high 10 goals so far this campaign while the Wanderers boast one of the strongest defences, allowing only six goals against. Melbourne City genuinely look a team capable of winning the tournament this year and at home, will probably prove too great a task for Tony Popovic’s men.

Dario Vidosic scores and Western Sydney wins: $7
Newcastle Jets vs Central Coast Mariners
In what will undoubtedly be one of the best matches in Week 6 of the A-League, the in-form Newcastle Jets return to the hunter to face bitter rivals Central Coast in the season’s first edition of the F3 Derby. Nothing was expected of the Jets this season however the addition of young manager Scott Miller seems to have added a spark the club has lacked through recent years and they remain third overall; one win off top spot after producing a number of convincing wins against quality opposition, led by the likes of veteran David Carney who has found blistering form of his own. Central Coast are sure to lift to the occasion in what is one of the league’s oldest derbies, but Newcastle look great and offer great value to win.

Sydney FC vs Melbourne Victory
While based close to 1000km away from each other, Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory have built one of the league’s most hate-fuelled rivalries through eleven seasons on the A-League, and two will meet in the 36th edition of the ‘Big Blue’ on Saturday night. Sydney enter the game first overall; undefeated in five matches while the Victory have a game in hand but sit fourth, and will be full of confidence after winning the FFA Cup during the week. One thing that has become abundantly clear when these two sides meet is that anything can happen, red cards can be shown and the result can fall either way, regardless of where the match is being played. A draw offers great value for money at current $3.40 odds.

Brisbane Roar vs Perth Glory
Brisbane Roar have returned to competition in exceptional form this season and will be full of confidence ahead of their match with Perth Glory after posting a gritty draw away to league leaders Sydney FC in week 5. The Glory have undoubtedly been one of the biggest disappointments through the first five weeks of competition; contesting one win and three losses from four fixtures. Brisbane have unearthed a number of potential stars this year and always prove a tough task at home, regardless of form and ladder positioning. Brandon Borello has been on target a number of times for the Roar this season and if offered a great opportunity to extend his record against Perth on Sunday.
