2016 FA Cup Semi-Finals Preview

The English Premier League season has reached its final month and we are now at the penultimate round of the FA Cup, with the semi-finals set to take place at Wembley this weekend.

Manchester United are clear favourites to lift the FA Cup Trophy, but they have to get past Everton this weekend before Crystal Palace and Watford do battle in the second semi-final.

Will Manchester United keep alive their hopes of winning some silverware this season? Which Premier League battler will keep the dream alive? I have analysed both games and come up with two betting plays that I am confident will be successful this weekend.

Everton Vs Manchester United

Sunday 24 April, 2:15am, Wembley

Everton progressed to the FA Cup Semi-Finals after scoring a comfortable 2-0 victory over Chelsea last month, while Manchester United required a replay win over West Ham to keep them in the tournament.

Manchester United have been one of the most inconsistent betting teams in the English Premier League this season, but they will still go into this fixture as clear favourites to progress to the FA Cup Final.

The Red Devils have won just 13 of their 31 games as favourites in the English Premier League over the past 12 months and they have been a losing betting proposition across just about every metric – except for the draw.

Everton have won just four of their 17 games as underdogs in the past 12 months, but they were able to draw seven of these fixtures and backing the draw in their fixtures this season has proven to be a very profitable play.

I except that both teams will take a very conservative approach into this FA Cup Semi-Final and the $3.30 for the match to finish as a draw at the end of regulation time is excellent betting value.

Recommended Bet: Back The Draw @ $3.30

Crystal Palace Vs Watford

Monday 25 April, 1:00am, Wembley

This is arguably the most intriguing game of the weekend as neither Crystal Palace or Watford have ever won the FA Cup and both have only  made the final once – with Watford losing to Everton in 1983 and Crystal Palace losing a replay to Manchester United in 1990.

Crystal Palace have been in very poor form in the English Premier League in the past few months, but they beat the likes of Tottenham to make it to this stage of the tournament and they will start this game as clear favourites.

They have been a losing betting proposition as favourites this season – going 6-1-8 as the punter’s elect – and they have won just one English Premier League fixture in the past couple of months.

Watford have defied expectation in the English Premier League this season and they have been a profitable betting teams in the majority of metrics this season.

They have hit somewhat of a form slump in recent weeks, but you can say the exact same about Crystal Palace and the $3 on offer for Watford to progress to the FA Cup Final is well worth a bet.

Recommended Bet: Back Watford @ $3
