Daily Racing Tips – Wednesday 18th May
Royal Randwick - Race 1 12.50pm AEST
No. 1 Flow
Flow had very little luck in running on debut at Hawkesbury, but he was still able to finish second in what was a high-rating race. He has a clear edge over the rest of this field based on that performance and Godolphin two-year-olds have an excellent second-up record. There are plenty of ticks in his favour and he should prove too good.
Royal Randwick - Race 2 1.30pm AEST
No. Firebird Flyer
Firebird Flyer made her Australian racing debut with a more than credible second at Kembla Grange. Chris Waller has an excellent record with young horses coming from New Zealand and he has a high opinion of her as a trip to Queensland is on the agenda. The booking of Brenton Avdulla signals intent and she should find the right part of the track in the straight.
Ballarat - Race 3 3.30pm AEST
No. 3 Charlie Garcon
Charlie Garcon showed plenty of potential last preparation without really putting it all together, but his recent barrier trial – which he won by 15 lengths – indicates that he might be a different horse this time in. He does not meet the strongest field in this race and he is clearly the horse with the most upside.
Belmont - Race 6 5.20pm AEST
No. 6 Assurance
Assurance is yet to produce a poor performance since he made his racing debut and he left from start to finish to win at Belmont last start. Peter Knuckey will be able to control the race from barrier three and it would not surprise to see the son of Viscount take another step forward up to 1400 metres for the first time.
