College Football Week 1 Preview

Facebooktwittermail

The College Football season got underway with in Sydney last weekend with the clash between California and Hawaii, but the real action begins this weekend.

There are countless College Football games spread right across the weekend and there really is plenty of money to be made for savvy punters that are willing to put in the research.

I have picked out the best betting affairs this weekend and below you can find my thoughts on all of the key clashes.

Vanderbilt Vs South Carolina

Friday September 2, 10:00am, Vanderbilt Stadium

Vanderbilt will go into this clash as home favourites and they have a simply outstanding record in this scenario.

They have won 18 of their past 20 games as home favourites and are 12-8 against the line, while the South Carolina Gamecocks have won just five of their past 20 games as away underdogs.

Vanderbilt are very tough to beat in front of their home fans and they are a safe bet to get the job done.

Georgia State Vs Ball State

Saturday September 3, 9:00am, Heinz Field

Georgia State have struggled somewhat in recent seasons and they have not played many games as home favourites.

Ball State have only won seven of their past 20 games as away underdogs, but they are 13-7 against the line in this scenario and they are an excellent bet with a start of 3.5 points in what should be a very tight affair.

Arkansas State Vs Toledo

Saturday September 3, 11:00am, Ford Field

Arkansas State have been one of the most consistent teams in all of College Football in recent seasons and they will go into this clash as clear favourites.

Arkansas State have won 18 of their past 20 games as home favourites and they are an impressive 13-7 against the line in this scenario.

In saying that, you can’t completely write off Toledo who have won eight of their past 12 games as away underdogs.

Northwestern Vs Western Michigan

Sunday September 4, 2:00am, FirstEnergy Stadium

Northwestern are home favourites, but I am happy to take them on in this scenario.

They are just 9-11 against the line as home favourites, while the Western Michigan have proven to be fairly effective as away underdogs and I am more than happy to back them with a start of five points.

Texas A&M Vs UCLA

Sunday September 4, 5:30am, FedEx Field

Texas A&M don’t have a great record against the line as home favourites, but they have won 16 of the past 20 games as home favourites.

UCLA are just 5-15 as away underdogs and are 7-13 against the line, which makes Texas A&M a safe bet to get the job done this weekend.

Back Texas A&M To Win @ $1.63

Georgia Vs North Carolina

Sunday September 4, 7:30am, MetLife Stadium

Georgia will start this game as favourites, but North Carolina have an excellent chance of recording an upset win.

Georgia may have won 17 of their past 20 games as home favourites, but they have generally not performed at mark expectations and North Carolina are a winning betting proposition as away underdogs.

Auburn Vs Clemson

Sunday September 4, 11:00am, Gillette Stadium

This is one of the most exciting games of the weekend between two College Football powerhouses.

Clemson is one of the favourites to claim the National Championship this season, but you can never rule out Auburn and I am more than happy to back them with a start of 7.5 points.

Back Auburn To Beat The Line (+7.5 Points)

Arizona Vs BYU

Sunday September 4, 12:30pm, NRG Stadium

This is expected to be one of the tightest games of the weekend.

Arizona have a horrible record against the spread as home favourites, but they have won 14 of their past 20 games in this scenario, while BYU are 6-14 as away underdogs.

There is genuine value in the price available for an Arizona win.

Texas Vs Notre Dame

Monday September 5, 9:30am, Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum

This is another genuine College Football blockbuster.

Texas have the home ground advantage, but will go into this game as underdogs and this is a position in which they have really struggled in recent times – they are just 6-11 against the line as home underdogs.

Notre Dame are only 8-11 against the line as away underdogs, but they are 17-3 in head-to-head markets in this scenario and they are another safe bet to get the win.

Notre Dame To Win @ $1.63

Florida State Vs Mississippi

Monday September 5, 10:00am, University Of Phoenix Stadium

Florida State will start this game as favourites and they are unbeaten in their past 20 matches as home favourites, while they are 11-9 against the line.

Mississippi are a credible 7-13 as away underdogs, but what really stands out is there 14-6 against the line and I am happy to back them with a start of four points.
