Newcastle - Race 3 2.05pm AEST
No. 3 Smooth Whiskey
Smooth Whiskey showed a fair amount of promise without winning last preparation and his two barrier trial victories in the lead-up to his racing return suggest that he may have gone to another level this campaign. He maps to get a lovely run just behind the speed with Hugh Bowman in the saddle and can claim a long-awaited maiden race win.
Newcastle - Race 6 3.55pm AEST
No. 7 Special Missile
Special Missile has recorded five wins on the trot and there is no reason that she can’t keep on winning. She continues to improve each and every time that she is seen at the races and if she does that again she will go to a level that will make her very tough to beat. She makes her own luck right on the speed with Brenton Avdulla in the saddle.
Newcastle - Race 7 4.35pm AEST
No. 1 Destiny’s Kiss
Destiny’s Kiss may be a nine-year-old, but he is still as tough as they come and there was plenty of merit in his win in the Wyong Gold Cup. This is a tougher, but there is still no way that he should be $7.50. He has proven he can win with a big weight and I am confident that he will be in the finish once again.
Newcastle - Race 8 5:10pm AEST
No. 8 Sort After
Sort After returned to the races with a nice fourth in the Mona Lisa Stakes and she does look to have more improvement than the horses that beat her home in that race. Her second-up record is excellent and it would not surprise to see Josh Parr press forward and put the pressure on the rest of this field in the early stages.
