Florida Panthers vs St Louis Blues
The hottest team in the league St Louis is off to a perfect 4-0 start this year and face a relatively fresh Panthers side that have only played twice but have a high goals per game average already. The Blues are getting goals from all over the ice right now with their defensemen chipping in with six goals already, especially Alex Pietrangelo who has scored six points. Florida’s only games have been against Tampa Bay so far so it will be interesting to see how they fare against someone else but for the time being it’s got to be a pick for St Louis until they drop points.
Chicago Blackhawks vs Minnesota Wild
Chicago are yet to lose in regulation this season and are being driven by a high scoring group of forwards. They are yet to score less than three goals in a game including a ten goal night against the Penguins. Minnesota gave up four and five goals in their two games so far and have the ominous task of shutting down the high scoring Chicago team in their building no less. I really like the value of Chicago here and think it would be a big shock if they did anything other than win this game.
San Jose Sharks vs Buffalo Sabres
Some Friday afternoon fun to finish off the day with two winless sides looking to break their duck. Buffalo earned a point with a shootout loss already while San Jose are hoping that a long road trip for the Sabres will work in their favour and give them an opportunity to earn a victory. With that travel schedule and the late start I like the Sharks to pull away in the third period and get their season going.
