Race 1 - 4:04pm
See Me Sizzle is on the quick back-up following a solid third at Ascot last Saturday. He is a horse that has performed well on the quick back-up in the past and this is a weaker race than last weekend. Maddison Brown will take him straight to the front and he will prove tough to catch.
The main danger is Ruling Angel and he offers genuine value at his current price. This is a drop in trip and that looks as though it will suit. He has gone to another level this preparation and is another that will make his own luck right on the speed.

Race 2 - 4:44pm
This looks like a race in two between Royal Star and La Mouline and the market has zeroed in on the two Bob Peters-trained gallopers. I would be surprised if one of them didn’t win the race and they have a clear class edge over the rest of this field, but there is no value at their current quote.
Race 3 - 5:24pm
Bold Success will start this horse as an odds-on favourite and it is tougher to get him as short as his current quote. He has recorded just one win from eight race starts and his past two starts have been fairly plain. Ragazzo D’Oro chased home the talented Vital Silver last start and a repeat of that performance would make him tough to beat. He will likely take up the running in the early stages of this race and give his rivals something to catch.

The River was scratched from the Winterbottom Stakes earlier in the week and this does look like a much better race for him. He is a genuine 1000 metres specialist and he returned to the races with a nice victory over this trip a fortnight ago. There is no doubt that he is the horse to beat.
The main danger is Gee Boss. He is not the most consistent horse, but he is capable of a high-rating performance on his day and he won a barrier trial in dominant fashion ahead of his return to the races.

Trainer Dan Morton has a strong hand in this race. The Willie Pike factor means that Fairtrusive will start this race as a clear favourite, but her stablemate Nocelle was more impressive on debut. She produced a very professional performance to win at Ascot and she ran good time in doing so. The step-up in trip looks ideal and she is outstanding value at the current price of $7.

River Dance has recorded four wins on the trot and there is no reason that he can’t continue on his winning ways. He absolutely gapped his rivals to win by more than four lengths at Geraldton last start and he has the speed to cross this field from the wide barrier draw. The Snitzel gelding is still on the way up and he can run his rivals off their feet.

State Solicitor was set for this race 12 months ago and he can claim a maiden Group 1 victory in the Winterbottom Stakes. He was very unlucky in the 2016 edition of the race and that was a much stronger field than this one. It is fair to say that he has improved since then and his win in the Colonel Reeves Stakes had to be seen to be believed. He was close to last and had no momentum at the 200 metre mark, but he savaged the line when he found clear running. No horse from the Colonel Reeve Stakes is capable of turning-the-tables on him and the Eastern State raiders hold no fear. As long as he gets even luck in running he will be very tough to run down.

Race 8 - 8:30pm
This is easily the most open race of the day and is a very difficult way to finish the day for punters – Willie Pike doesn’t even have a ride. There is very little between the majority of the leading chances in this race – as the betting market suggests – and it is impossible to bet into this contest with any real confidence.
