The Magic Millions is now only a month away and we will have a much clearer picture of the leading contenders for the two feature races after this weekend.
A host of contenders for the Magic Millions Classic and Magic Millions Guineas will be in action at Doomben on Saturday, while a potential Magic Millions Guineas contender will return to the races at Royal Randwick.
We have found a number of horses to follow this weekend as we continue on the road to the Magic Millions!
Magic Millions Classic
Phelan Ready Stakes
There are only five horses in the 2017 Phelan Ready Stakes, but all five could be genuine contenders for the Magic Millions Classic and the winner of this race will likely go straight to the top of Magic Millions Classic betting.
EF Troop and Crockett both stamped themselves as legitimate Magic Millions Classic contenders with their debut wins and they are locked in a battle for favouritism in the Phelan Ready Stakes.
The big x-factor in this race is Commissioner and he is from the same connections that won the 2015 edition of the Magic Millions Classic with Capitalist.
Commissioner impressed with his performance in a recent barrier trial and Team Snowden have an outstanding record when they send horses to Queensland – especially two-year-olds.
Calaway Gal Stakes
The Calaway Gal Stakes is generally not the strongest form reference for the Magic Millions Classic, but it would not surprise if a contender emerged for the 2018 edition of the race.
There are a number of fillies set to make their racing debuts in the Calaway Gal Stakes and there are a number of Magic Millions Classic contenders among them.
Sizzling Ace impressed at the trials ahead of her racing debut and she could be another Magic Millions Classic contender for Toby Edmonds and Jeff Lloyd – who won the race with Houtzen 12 months ago.
Magic Millions Guineas
Gold Edition Plate
This is a stellar edition of the Gold Edition Plate.
Pierata is currently a clear favourite in our Magic Millions Guineas betting market, but that could all change if he is beaten in the Gold Edition Plate and there is plenty of talent in this field.
Goodfella will drop back in class after running in the Coolmore Stud Stakes and he won the Brian Crowley Stakes in the Spring in impressive fashion.
Super Ex has recorded three wins from his four race starts and he is a horse with plenty of upside, while Debonairly returned to a semblance of her best form when she beat some older horses in the Magic Millions Stakes at the Ballarat.
Calculated In The ANZ Bloodstock News Handicap
Calculated has been kept safe in Magic Millions Guineas betting and he could be one of the most interesting horses running anywhere in the country this Saturday.
The Chris Waller-trained galloper looked like a start in the making in the early stages of the Spring, but he was sent to the spelling paddock after he was beaten as favourite in the Up And Coming Stakes.
He is a horse that has a massive amount of upside and he will rocket into Magic Millions Guineas contention if he returns to the races with a win at Royal Randwick.
