Race 1 - 11:55am

Open Handicap (2400m)

Sydney’s leading trainer Chris Waller has his Queensland stable firing on all cylinders and his improving stayer Tumultuous gets his chance to make it back to back wins after scoring a last stride win in the $1m Magic Millions Trophy (2200m) at the Gold Coast on January 13. Tumultuous has earned his top weight of 58kg and Robbie Fradd will have to nurse him for as long as possible down the long Corbould Park straight. The main danger appears to be the Chris Munce trained Expertea who showed his ability as a stayer with a last start win over 2200m at Doomben last Saturday.

Francisca gets one last chance to produce the goods after being beaten as favourite at her last two starts at the Gold Coast and Doomben. The Steven O’Dea trained filly will settle in the second half of the field from barrier eight and Paul Hammersley has the job of timing his run in the straight to get Francisca home for an overdue win. Cruze was also a beaten favourite at his last two starts but has to contend with the hefty weight of 58.5kg.

Race 3 - 1:02pm

Class 3 Plate (1600m)

Savwell is racing in top form and gets his chance to score a hat trick following wins here on his home track and at Doomben over 1640m. The Savabeel four year will be ridden again by the King Of The Sunshine Coast Damian Browne who rides this track better than anyone. The Matthew Dunn trained Realing will be ridden by the in-form Robbie Fradd and will find this a lot easier than his last start tenth in the $1m Magic Millions QTIS Open (1300m) at the Gold Coast on Magic Millions Day. The step back up to 1600m won’t be a problem after Realing was a winner over the mile at Doomben two starts back.

QTIS 2yo Classic (1200m)

Toowoomba two year old Hopes Eternal will find this a lot easier than his last start second to Meryl in the Group 3 $200,000 B.J. McLachlan Stakes (1200m) at Doomben on December 30. The Jet Spur youngster made up plenty of ground from back in the field and will appreciate the long Corbould Park straight. Local filly Pennino was an impressive winner on her home track in Maiden class last start and should figure in the prizemoney again and Sydney two year old Line Up Girls has shown improvement on the tracks with a recent three lengths Gold Coast barrier trial win.

Eagle Farm trainer Steven O’Dea and Paul Hammersley will team up again with the topweight Colinelle who is a two time winner over the Sunshine Coast 1000m trip. Colinelle has been around the prizemoney at his three runs this preparation and gets his chance to breakthrough for an overdue win. The Tony Gollan trained Just Orm has also shown his liking for the 1000m with two of his three wins over that distance at the Sunshine Coast and is coming off a last start win over 1110m at Doomben. Basara is also racing in fine form with two wins from her three race starts and Michael Cahill will give her the run of the race from barrier three. Prioritise can mix his form up a bit and heads to the Sunshine Coast following a last start fourth in a 1200m BenchMark 85 handicap at Doomben last Saturday. Trainer Steve Tregea has taken the blinkers off Prioritise who is a winner over this course and distance. Beaudragon has good mid-week form with a win and a second at Doomben at his last two starts but has to overcome a very wide barrier.

Barnsley comes back to Saturday class following his win over 1000m at Ipswich and has the services of Damian Browne and Ellawisdom is a last start Toowoomba winner.

Race 9 - 4:47pm

Sunshine Coast Cup (1400m)

Mighty Like scored a surprise first up win for some over 1200m at the Gold Coast on January 6 and should be among the chances again from a middle of the road barrier in a capacity eighteen horse field. Invinzabeel is the better drawn of Chris Waller’s two runners at barrier seven while Torgersen will have to jump from possibly gate seventeen if all the emergencies fail to gain a start. The Tony Gollan trained Most Important has fair overall form but has been lumped with the 59.5kg top weight.
