Class 3 Plate (1050m)

Toowoomba four year old Mr Marbellouz has brilliant short course form and the inside gate from this tricky start is a huge advantage at his first test on a city track. The Kevin Kemp trained gelding is a three times winner on his home track with a total of sixteen and a quarter lengths combined winning margin and is the obvious horse to beat here. Fellow Toowoomba trained Whycatchim also showed his liking for his home track with a last start three lengths win over 870m and has been well supported in the early betting at Ladbrokes.com.au.

You Know The One and Red Doulton are also juvenile winners and that race experience is certainly going to be to their advantage on the weekend. Baccarat Baby, from the Sunshine Coast, is one of six youngsters in the ten horse field facing the starter for the first time and heads to Doomben on the back of a 850m barrier trial win on his home track.

QTIS 3yo Handicap (1200m)

Top weight Snitz is resuming with 59kgs on his back after winning three of his seven race starts, two at Doomben during his last campaign in September. Regular rider Robbie Fradd takes the mount again and will give the Matthew Dunn trained gelding every chance from barrier seven in the thirteen horse field. The Tony Gollan trained Umberto will strip fitter following his first up second over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast and is better treated at the weights with Jim Byrne in the saddle. Basara also has to be included among the chances and the long priced Jinx ‘N’ Drinx can add value to the multiples.

BenchMark 70 Handicap (1200m)

A capacity field of sixteen will go around in the 1200m BenchMark 70 Handicap, resulting in a wide open betting race at Ladbrokes.com.au. The in-form Dream Master with premiership winning jockey Jeff Lloyd in the saddle is the early favourite at $4 and will be hard to beat chasing a hat trick following wins at the Gold Coast and at Doomben over the same distance as Saturday’s trip. The early market mover at Ladbrokes.com.au is the Chris Meagher trained Rich Affair who’s price has been trimmed up from $11 to $5.50 on Thursday and is now one of five runners under the $10 mark. Class 3 Plate (1350m)

Brigadoon Rise is in line for an overdue win after being placed at her last three starts at Doomben, two over the same distance as Saturday’s contest. Jim Byrne finds himself back aboard the Tony Gollan trained mare who will get the run of the race from barrier two in the capacity sixteen horse field. Stablemate Salmanazar looks to be one of the main dangers coming off a last start win over the same course and distance he faces this week. Last Armageddon has been racing well in weaker company with two wins a second from his last three starts and could sneak into a place at big odds.
