Kathmandu was beaten as an odds-on favourite last start at Hawkesbury, but he did have excuses and the form coming out of that race has been very strong. He maps to get a lovely run right on the speed with Kerrin McEvoy in the saddle and this is his opportunity to record a maiden race victory.
Newcastle Race 6 - Race 6 4:55pm AEDT
Mister Sea Wolf raced well without winning during his maiden racing campaign in Australia – he was only narrowly beaten in both the Festival Stakes and the Villiers Stakes. He should take plenty of improvement from that experience and he is great value in what is an open edition of the Newcastle Newmarket Handicap.

Latin Boy has an excellent record over these short-course sprint and he has previously won over the 900 metres at Newcastle. On his best form he does have a genuine edge over the rest of this field and he is never far away fresh. He can sit just off the speed and finish over the top of his rivals late.

Tawfiq Boy has been beaten as a favourite in his past two starts, but I am willing to give him another opportunity at a nice price. There is no doubt that he is a horse with a fair amount of talent and if he keeps his mind on the job he can make what will be a long awaited return to the winner’s stall.
