Daily Racing Tips – Thursday 22nd March

Newcastle - Race 6 4.20pm AEDT

No. 8 Schifty Thinker

Schifty Thinker is not the most consistent mare, but she has shown ability during her racing career to date. The So You Think mare has trialed well ahead of her return to the races and Gerald Ryan generally has his horses nice and forward for their racing returns. This is an open race and she is well and truly over the odds at $15.

Newcastle - Race 7 4.55pm AEDT

No. 2 California Turbo

The scratchings have taken plenty of the quality out of this race and they leave California Turbo as the class galloper. He won strongly on debut at Newcastle and he wasn’t disgraced in his second race start at the samue venue. Hugh Bowman jumps into the saddle and he has an outstanding record when he combines with Team Snowden.

Newcastle - Race 8 5:35pm AEDT

No. 6 Penske

Penske won in impressive fashion on debut at Hawkesbury before he went off the boil and it has taken Gai Waterhouse a while to get him back to the races. His most recent trial at Rosehill Gardens was strong and if he can show the sort of form he did in his racing debut, he can make a winning return to the races.

Ipswich - Race 7 5.55pm AEDT

No. 4 Plan Red

Plan Red doesn’t win out of turn, but he gets conditions to suit at Ipswich this afternoon. He heads into this race on the back of what was a solid effort at Ipswich last start and he is a horse that has produced his best form in the wet – he has recorded two wins from four race starts on a soft track.
