Caulfield - Race 2 12.55pm AEST

No. 7 Amortentia

Amortentia was not disgraced first-up at The Valley and she went to another level when she returned to winning form at Ladbrokes Park last start. This race at Caulfield really isn’t much tougher and she maps to get a lovely run in transit from barrier two. There is no reason she can’t make it two wins on the trot.

Royal Randwick - Race 2 12.05pm AEST

No.2 Isaurian

Isaurian is a lightly-raced horse that has a massive future. He was only narrowly denied a maiden race win by the in-form I Am Excited in the Darby Munro Stakes last start and there is no horse of that quality in this field. He has the benefit of Hugh Bowman in the saddle and he can claim a maiden black-type win.

Royal Randwick - Race 8 3:45pm AEST

No. 1 Almandin

Top-weights don’t have a great record in the Sydney Cup, but Almandin will still be very tough to beat. He produced one of the best efforts of his racing career to date to record an excellent win in the Tancred Stakes last start and he will obviously have no issues running a strong 3200 metres. Damien Oliver will give him a dream run in transit and he can claim another Group 1 win.

Sunshine Coast - Race 9 5.13pm AEST

No. 4 Guard Of Honour

Guard Of Honour returned to winning form with a dominant win in the Camarena Stakes at Canberra and on his best form he has a clear class edge over the rest of this field. He has the speed to press forward from the wide barrier draw and his record over 1000 metres is excellent. He should be able to make it two wins on the trot.
