Race 1 - 12:01pm
Yogi is a dominant favourite in Port Adelaide Cup betting and he is deserving of that status. He has improved each time that he has been seen at the races this preparation and he was only narrowly denied by stablemate Gallic Chieftain in the Warrnambool Cup. This race is no tougher and he should prove far too good for his rivals.

This is a strong edition of the National Stakes and there are a number of horses that will take an unbeaten record into this contest. Tequila Time drops back in distance following his win in the Sa Sires’ Produce Stakes and that is likely to suit. He has drawn wide, but he does have the early speed to take up the running and if he is able to find the lead will prove very tough to run down once again.

This is a genuine race in two between Miss Admiration and Pleasuring. Pleasuring was the big winner of the barrier draw and she maps to get a dream run in transit, but I am still keen to side with Miss Admiration. She will likely get back from the wide barrier draw anyway and she showed in both the Australian Oaks and the Australasian Oaks that she is capable of making up plenty of ground late. The step-up to 2500 metres suits her and she will be tough to hold-out late.

This is another race in which there are two clear chances in the form of Savapinski and Tahanee. Savapinski was beaten home by Tahanee in the Queen Of The South Stakes, but the Gai Waterhouse-trained galloper can turn-the-tables on her rival over 2000 metres. She was dominant over 2000 metres in the Matriarch Stakes in the Spring and she makes her own luck right on the speed.

This is an interesting edition of the Lee Stakes and there are a host of winning chances. Lite’n In My Veins has recorded three wins on the trot this preparation and he is a horse that has a very likeable racing style. Jamie Kah will settle him right on the speed in the early stages and if he is able to maintain his current form he will prove very tough to beat.
A horse that appeals at his current price is Fastnet Tempest. He has promised plenty since he arrived in Australia and he heads into this contest on the back of a fast-finishing win at Caulfield in the Anniversary Vase. The wide barrier draw isn’t ideal, but he is still over the odds at his current price of $8.

There is no doubt that She’s So High is a deserving favourite, but there shouldn’t be as much between her price and that of Dainty Tess. Dainty Tess beat Viddora and Secret Agenda to win the Irwin Stakes and she did have some excuses when she was handily beaten in the Robert Sangster Stakes. She maps to get a lovely run in transit with Jamie Kah in the saddle and she is nice value to return to winning form.

Vega Magic is the class horse in this race and there is no doubt that he is the horse to beat in The Goodwood. He won this race first-up 12 months ago and there is no doubt that he has improved in that time. His first-up win in the Regal Roller Stakes in the Spring was outstanding and he stamped himself as one of the best horses in the country with his win in the Memsie Stakes and his unlucky second place finish in The Everest. The wide barrier draw isn’t ideal, but he does have early speed and he has shown in the past that he is capable of sitting on a hot speed and still sprinting strongly late.

This is a tough way to finish the day for punters and there are a host of winning chances. Blue Tycoon returned to a semblance of his best form with a tough effort at Morphettville Parks last start and he finds himself in a winnable race this afternoon. He has the early speed required to take up the running from the wide barrier draw and he should get a fairly soft lead in a race that doesn’t have a great deal of pace.
