Daily Sports Tips – Wednesday 20th June
Minnesota Twins vs. Boston Red Sox
Total Runs: Under 6.5 @ $2.35
The Red Sox are searching for two straight wins, and they’ll feel confident with six time All-Star Chris Sale on the mound. The Twins are also starting their own ace, Jose Berrios, a left-handed pitcher who’s struck out 91 hitters in 14 games so far. The Twins are a miserable 17-17 at home, while the Red Sox are fantastic on the road. Unfortunately for both sides, runs have been hard to come by over the last week, and with two of the leagues top command pitchers dishing out strikes, the scoreboard should stay pretty quiet.
Houston Astros vs. Tampa Bay Rays
Match Winner/Total Runs Double: Astros/Over 7.5 @ $2.85
Don’t look now, but the Astros have won 12 straight. They are also 19-14 at home, and have the fifth lowest strikeout rate vs. left-handed pitching. All of that spells bad news for southpaw Blake Snell and the Rays. No knock on Snell, he’s been a strikeout machine so far this year, but with the Astros reclaiming the AL West lead from the Mariners earlier in the week, Houston are starting to kick into gear.
Portugal vs. Morocco
Correct Score: Portugal 1-0 @ $5.50
Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic free-kick against Spain last week was nothing short of brilliant, and if Portugal can continue to score goals in quick succession like that, they’ll do well in this tournament. But what do we make of the Portugese defence? Stunning goals are nice, but allowing Spain to slot three probably gives Morocco a slither of hope. Unfortunately for Morocco, though, Wednesday could mark disaster number two for a team that allowed a 0-0 draw to turn into a 1-0 defeat in the 95th minute against Iran last week. Portugal are never a certainty in the group stage, but unless centre-back Medhi Benatia and fullback Achraf Hakimi can keep Ronaldo quiet, the Moroccans might be in for a long day.
