QTIS 2yo Fillies Plate (1200m)

The 2yo fillies kick of the nine race program on Tattersall’s Club Tiara Day. The Tracey Bartley trained Bare Naked Lady is the winner of one of her two race starts and heads to Doomben on the back of an impressive win at Scone on May 11. Malahide from the Michael Costa stable on the Gold Coast was also impressive in winning on debut on her home track and has to be considered again. Adoradiva is also a last start Gold Coast winner while Spirit’s Choice and Veranes can be mixed up in the exotics.

2yo Stakes (1350m)

Granny Red Shoes is the winner of two of her last three starts and will prove hard to beat again if she can repeat her latest two lengths win in the Listed Oxlade Stakes at the Sunshine Coast. Victory Toast was also impressive in winning a Toowoomba Maiden and trainer Ben Currie will put the blinkers on the filly. Dual acceptor Malahide also has claims.

0MW-L2Y Handicap (1200m)

Klammer’s country form has been sound with three seconds and a win from his last four starts, his latest a victory over 1100m at Warwick. Mason’s Chance also has solid country form and comes to the city following his win at Barcaldine. Man Around Town is the winner of his last two starts in Gordonvale and Atherton and Better Idea is a recent Gayndah winner.

Class 6 Plate (1350m)

Taillevent has been around the mark of late and drops 1kg on his last start second over 1200m in a BenchMark 85 Handicap at Doomben and has strong claims here. Aanvoerder is chasing a hat trick after wins at Ipswich and the Gold Coast and Inspired Estelle is better suited this class. Exceedingly has been placed at his last two starts and is sure to be around the placings again.

QTIS 3yo Plate (1350m)

The Bostonian picked up some travelling expenses for Kiwi trainer Tony Pike with his win in the Listed Daybreak Lover at the Sunshine Coast and looks the one to beat again. The Robert Heathcote trained Trommelschlagen had some solid form before a spell and was a handy Eagle Farm barrier trial winner in preparation for his return. Tokoriki Lad will be given his chance in city class following wins at Ipswich and the Gold Coast and Hearts Lifted is also chasing a hat trick following two wins at the Gold Coast.

Tattersall’s Cup (2200m)

Tradesman did it tough but was still able to win the Ipswich Cup last week and will get the run of the race from a good barrier with Blake Shinn in the saddle. The Darren Weir trained stayer is the one to beat. Anton En Avant is a three times winner over this track and distance and is coming off a last start second in the Group 2 Brisbane Cup over 2200m. Honey Toast will be better suited stepping back up to the 2200m and Coldstone will be chasing some more minor prizemoney

G.H. Mumm Handicap (1615m)

Hopfgarten and Ulmann will clash again after finishing one, two in the Listed Wayne Wilson over 1600m at Doomben last start. There was only a head between them there and they are set to fight out the finish again. Grand Rosso was beaten less than two lengths when sixth over 1400m in the Octagonal Handicap at Rosehill and will strip fitter for the step up to the 1615m. Sheiswhatsheis will skip straight to the front from an inside gate and will appreciate being back on top of the ground.

Tattersall’s Club Tiara (1350m)

Many chances in a wide betting Group 1 Tatt’s Tiara with the three year old filly Champagne Cuddles being installed the $5.50 favourite with Ladbrokes.com.au when the final field was released on Wednesday. Champagne Cuddles has been knocking on the door with Group 1 placings at her last two starts and gets her chance here against the fillies and mares. Prompt Response was runner up in last year’s Tatt’s Tiara and her recent form indicates that she will be amongst the prizemoney again. Super Cash has found some recent handy Group 1 form but her chances have been dashed with a wide barrier. Shillelagh, Daysee Doom and the Kiwi mares Miss Wilson and Volpe Veloce are all Group 1 winners.

Race 9 - 4:33pm

W.J. Healy Stakes (1200m)

Spright is dropping back to a more suitable distance and trainer Garry Frazer has opted to put the blinkers on the mare to help her return to the winner’s stall. Calanda will strip fitter following a first up third in the Group 2 Moreton Cup at the Sunshine Coast but his chances have been dashed after drawing the outside barrier in the sixteen horse field. Snoopy will also be fitter for recent racing but will need more than his fair share of luck from a wide gate. Malvern Estate has a perfect first up record and has been fitted for his return with a recent Eagle Farm barrier trial win.
