Canberra - Race 5 2.40pm AEST
Simply Striking was impressive first-up this prep at this same track when second. The grey gelding chased home the leader gamely and the step up in distance today will suit. He has drawn well today and gets a little bit of weight relief. Will go close.
Ballina - Race 2 11.55pm AEST
Pipe Dream Lass is still only a two year old so she will have to beat the older fillies and mares today however her only trip to the race track was a promising second where she chased home the winner well. She has had two trials leading into this race today, both of which she won, and she is right in this race. She will be somewhere near the front in running which will give the favourite something to chase down.
Ballina - Race 5 1:45pm AEST
Manndawi has not raced since October last year however this race looks a perfect stepping stone for the grey gelding. Once upon a time he was racing in much better company and his CV includes a third in a Geelong Cup behind Almoonqith. Those days are but a distance memory but he does look well placed today. He has had a barrier trial leading into this and the early money suggests he will run well.
Ballina - Race 8 3.35pm AEST
They Call Me Rose could not have been much more impressive winning her last start at Grafton. She should cross to the front again from the outside barrier and dictate the speed and will be in front for a long way. Hopefully the track dries out a bit by the time this race jumps and we can finish the day with a bang.
