Penrith Panthers vs. Cronulla Sharks
The Panthers were outstanding last week against the Warriors, but this well-rested Sharks team is a much bigger test. With a chance to potentially jump into the Top 4, Cronulla has everything to play for this week, and since they hold an impressive 5-3 record away from home, there’s every chance the Sharks get the job done here on the road. When these two last met back in Round 7 it was a hard-fought shootout win for the Sharks, and we should expect the same tonight.
St. Kilda vs. Carlton
It’s hardly the Friday night cracker we’re used to, but this bottom dweller affair might hold some drama. It’s tough to make a case for the Blues on the back of last week’s half-baked effort against the Lions, while the Saints were no better away against Port. Despite their record, St. Kilda have been playing some stronger defensive footy over the last month though, limiting the likes of Ollie Wines to just 18 disposals. Since the Blues look like a team the Saints can handle, Alan Richardson’s side are your best bet.
Novak Djokovic vs. Rafael Nadal
Two legends, one match for a spot in the final. Djokovic enters as the favourite, and after Nadal’s three-hour slug-fest against Juan Martin del Potro on Thursday night, it’s not hard to see why. Unfortunately for the Spaniard, backing up a five-set match two days later at age 32 is no easy task, and since some experts are rating Djokovic’s game close to his 2011 form, it’s hard to see Nadal making the final.
