Newcastle - Race 5 3.20pm AEST

No. 1 Outrageous

Outrageous is racing better than his current form suggests and he is very well-placed in the Spring Stakes this afternoon. He steps-up to 1600 metres for the first time since he finished a credible fifth in the Champagne Stakes and he found the line nicely in the Ming Dynasty Quality last start. He maps to get a lovely run in transit and he is well-placed to record a second race win.

Newcastle - Race 6 3.55pm AEST

No. 2 Savatiano

Savatiano is a mare that I have a big opinion of and she can continue her winning ways in the Tibbie Stakes this afternoon. She has now recorded three wins on the trot and she returned to the races with a very soft win in the Mona Lisa Stakes at Wyong. The wide barrier draw isn’t ideal, but she does have the speed to take up a forward position and, if she does that, she will prove very tough to beat.

Newcastle - Race 7 4.35pm AEST

No. 1 Auvray

Auvray returned to the races with a promising performance in the Premier’s Cup and the step-up in trip for the Newcastle Gold Cup is ideal for him. He is a horse that is capable of a very high-rating performance on his day and I like the fact that trainer Kris Lees has given him a barrier trial in between race starts. $7 is well and truly over the odds in what is not the strongest edition of the Newcastle Gold Cup.

Newcastle - Race 8 5:10pm AEST

No. 16 Kaonic

Kaonic is a horse that has really started to deliver on the potential that he showed as a younger horse and he is the horse that is weighted to win the Cameron Handicap. There has been plenty of merit in both of his race wins to date this campaign and he maps to get a dream run in transit from barrier four. He can stamp himself as a genuine Epsom Handicap contender with a Cameron Handicap win.
