Boston Celtics vs Philadelphia 76ers
The NBA season tips off this morning between two Eastern Conference foes. The Celtics hold the home court advantage, as well as a pretty favourable 10-1 head-to-head record against the Sixers at TD Garden. A year removed from devastating injuries to Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward, this rejuvenated (and motivated) Boston side is currently the favourite to win the East. With a 7-3 record in their last 10 games against Philly, you can’t back against them today.
Golden State Warriors vs Oklahoma City Thunder
Similar to the NBA Championship market, the Warriors enter at Winx-like odds to open their season with a win. With such a talented starting five that’s only grown stronger, it’s hard to disagree, but now that Carmelo Anthony is out of Oklahoma City, the Thunder might be able to spread the court and challenge the Warriors on the perimeter. If you’ll recall, last seasons Opening Night game between the Warriors and Rockets came right down to the final second, so this one could be just as close if the Thunder can make do without Russell Westbrook.
Adrian Menendez-Maceiras vs. Kevin King
The Calgary Challenger Round of 32 continues in the early hours of Thursday morning in what is shaping up to be an interesting battle between two North American opponents. These two met in the Semi-final of the ATP Challenger in Mexico earlier in May, with Maceiras winning a three set slugfest. Kevin King has found some strong form since then, making it as far as the Round of 32 in his last two tournaments. He certainly has the stamina to outlast the older Maceiras, but the Spaniard should prevail.
