Thinkin’ Big had no luck in running in the Spring Champion Stakes, he didn’t like the soft ground and he was still able to finish in the placings. Tim Clark should be able to take him straight to the front from the wide barrier draw and if he is able to control the race, he will prove tough to run down in the concluding stages.

The Cliffsofmoher’s run in the Ladbrokes Stakes could not have been a better Caulfield Cup trial. He easily ran the best closing sectionals in the race and there is no doubt that he was ridden with the Caulfield Cup in mind. He has a similar profile to Johannes Vermeer, who was unlucky not to win the Caulfield Cup last year, and he is the horse to beat.

Invincible Gem was not disgraced behind Santa Ana Lane in what was a very strong edition of the Premiere Stakes. The return to mares company suits and she is a mare is capable of a high-rating performance on her day. This is an open race and she is well and truly over the odds at the current price of $9.

I am happy to forgive Peaceful State for his run in the Ladbrokes Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes as he was never really able to get into the race. His first-up performance before that behind Land Of Plenty was excellent and I like the fact that trainer Darren Weir has given him a freshen-up between race starts. He can win this race and go into the Cantala Stakes as a genuine contender.
