Race 1 - 11:52am

Open Handicap (2200m)

The first race on Saturday’s nine event Doomben card over the 2200m is virtually the same field that went around over 2020m at Doomben two weeks ago with Chris Waller providing three of the seven runners. Estikhraaj came up trumps that day but is yet to win beyond 2000m while his stablemate My Giuliano is a two times winner over Saturday’s course and distance. Waller will also saddle up Vassal while the Michael Costa trained Stanley is overdue for a win after placings at his last three starts and is also a dual winner over the Doomben 2200m course.

A tricky race for the two year olds with the majority of the runners facing the starter for the first time with very little trial form to go on. The top weight Embattled has the benefit of a race start for a second over this course and distance and will jump from gate two which is a huge advantage from this starting point. Several well-bred youngsters are lining up for their race debut and include Valadyium, Vincere Volare, Wishfully, Mishani Blossom and Better Than Gold.
