2018 Ladbrokes Sandown Guineas Preview

The 2018 Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival is drawing to a close with the focus moving to Ladbrokes Park Hillside at Sandown on Saturday with the Ladbrokes Sandown Guineas for the three year olds one the feature races on the ten race program.

Victoria’s premier trainer Darren Weir is looking to keep his Spring Carnival winning momentum going and will saddle up the favourite Ringerdingding in the Group 2 Ladbrokes Sandown Guineas over 1600m.

The Mick Price trained Seabrook is the only filly in the twelve horse Sandown Guineas and looms as the main danger to Ringerdingding.

We have analysed all twelve runners and our complete 2018 Ladbrokes Sandown Guineas tips can be found below.

Long Leaf

Long Leaf is the first of the two Lindsay Park three year olds to line up in the Ladbrokes Sandown Guineas and is stepping up sharply in distance after finishing sixth in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes over 1200m down the Flemington straight on Derby Day. The Lindsay Park Team of David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig have also played around with Long Leaf’s race day gear and the Fastnet Rock colt will have his blinkers replaced with a set of winkers. Long Leaf is yet to win past 1000m and could struggle at the mile.

Good ‘N’ Fast

Good ‘N’ Fast is the second Lindsay Park runner in the Sandown Guineas and also has the blinkers off and the winkers on. Good ‘N’ Fast has missed a place at his last three starts but did run fourth two starts back in the Group 1 Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas over 1600m. Good ‘N’ Fast is a winner over the 1600m and is at good each way odds at Ladbrokes.com.au.

The Darren Weir trained Ringerdingding has hit winning form at the right time and has been installed as the favourite for the Sandown Guineas at Ladbrokes.com.au on the back of his last start victory in the Listed Springtime Stakes over 1400m at Flemington last Saturday. Ringerdingding sustained a long run at Flemington to win last weekend and will have plenty of time to wind up down the Sandown straight this week. Hard to beat again.

Scottish Rogue

Scottish Rogue has only missed a place on three occasions from eleven starts and heads to the Sandown Guineas after finishing second to Ringerdingding in the Springtime Stakes at Flemington last Saturday. Scottish Rogue meets Ringerdinding worse at the weights for being beaten and it is hard to see him turning the tables this weekend.

Secret Blaze

Secret Blaze made up plenty of ground from the back of the field last start when third in the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes over 1600m at Flemington two weeks ago on Derby Day. Secret Blaze is another who will appreciate the long run home and has each way claims again.

Syd’s Coin

Syd’s Coin has been installed as one of the outsiders of the Sandown Guineas field after finishing eleventh in the Carbine Club Stakes. The Ken Keys trained colt has had a little bit of specking in the betting at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Place chances look best for Zoutori who finished fourth to Ranier in the Listed Gothic Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield two starts back then made up some ground from the back when fifth to Ranier again in the Carbine Club Stakes.

Du To Pass

Du To Pass is stepping up sharply in distance and class and is one of the outsiders of the field after breaking through for his maiden win over 1300m at Ararat last Sunday.

Predecessor is another at long double figure odds at Ladbrokes.com.au and looks tested on his latest eleventh in the Listed TCL TV Stakes over 1800m at Flemington on Kennedy Oaks Day.

Igniter got rid of his maiden tag two starts back over 1300m at Stawell and then never threatened when eighth in the Springtime Stakes at Flemington last Saturday.

Achieve Victory

Achieve Victory remains a maiden after two race starts and will wear the tag as the outsider of the Sandown Guineas field.

The Mick Price trained Seabrook is the only filly in the twelve horse Ladbrokes Sandown Guineas field and is challenging Ringerdinding for favouritism after finishing less than two lengths from the winner when sixth in the Group 1 Empire Rose Stakes over 1600m at Flemington on the first day of the four day Melbourne Cup Carnival on November 3. The Hinchinbrook filly claimed Group 1 glory at the end of her two year old season when she won the Champagne Stakes over 1600m at Randwick during the 2018 Sydney Autumn Carnival. Has the services of champion jockey Damien Oliver and is one of the main chances.
