Race 1 - 1:1pm

Highway Handicap (1000m)

Sei Stella ran them ragged from the outset the last time she was seen at the races and looks well placed again. She can burst out from gate 5 and set the tempo again.

Mister Songman was very impressive first up for the Waterhouse/Bott stable when he ran second at Rosehill. He looks well placed to be winning a race like this.

Catanach's Handicap (1200m)

Seasons is a lightly raced mare on the rise. She couldn’t have been any more impressive first up at Rosehill and I think she can progress through to a much higher grade than this.

Christmas Cup (2400m)

Our Century has been excellent in his two runs so far this prep. Exoteric beat him two weeks ago but he meets that horse 2.5kg better at the weights and gets out to a more suitable distance.

Inglis Nursery (1000m)

Enforcement from the Snowden camp has been very impressive in his two trials to date. The I Am Invincible colt has James Mcdonald steering and is currently a nice price. Watch betting.

Razor Sharp Handicap (1200m)

I’m happy to take on the favourite Cradle Mountain here at his current price of even money.

Deploy was enormous first up to only be beaten 0.4 lengths after doing plenty of work. He meets a few of these better at the weights and looks value at his current quote.

Villiers Stakes (1600m)

I have Sky Boy on top here. This is a big jump in class on his recent wins however he is a talented individual. I worry about the step back in distance but he is in winning form and you really can’t knock him at the moment.

Last time Doubt Defying was at Royal Randwick he demolished his opposition by 2.5 lengths. He then went south where he won the Sale Cup over the mile and wasn’t disgraced in the Group 1 Mackinnon.

Grand Rosso is silly odds for a horse as consistent as he is. He might be a non winner but he’s worth a little play.

Vaucluse Bay ran on well first up and drops 3 kg for that effort. He has had a trial in between runs and can improve significantly.

Australian Turf Club Handicap (1400m)

Gresham was impressive first up and will appreciate the drop in grade. The Sebring Gelding has handled the soft going in the past and if he can overcome the wide barrier, he is in this race.
