No. 4 Sei Stella

Sei Stella will return to the races for the first time since she recorded a dominant win in a Highway Handicap over this same track and distance in September. She has recorded three wins from her four race starts over 1000 metres and she has speed to burn. Few trainers have a better record in the Highway Handicap races than Matthew Dale and he can win another one.

No. 1 Mad For Art

Mad For Art is a proven winner and the $20 currently on offer is well and truly over the odds. He is unbeaten first-up and he showed last campaign that he can mix it with this sort of company. This is the toughest test of his career to date, but he does have upside and I’d be surprised if he does remain at such juicy odds.

No. 2 Our Century

Our Century was beaten by Exoteric in the ATC Cup, but he can turn the tables on his rival in the Christmas Cup. The step-up to 2400 metres is ideal for Our Century, he hasn’t missed the placings in four race starts over this distance, and he maps to get a lovely run in transit with Jason Collett in the saddle.

No. 9 Doubt Defying

Doubt Defying has been freshened-up since his good run in the Mackinnon Stakes. His two wins before that were excellent, especially his Ladbrokes Sale Cup win, and he still has plenty of upside. Michael Walker will be able to settle him right on the speed from barrier three and he is the horse to beat at outstanding odds.
