Eagle Farm Race Day Preview – Saturday 9th March

Race 1 - 12:17pm AEST

QTIS 2yo Handicap (1400m)

Sizzling Babe has the best form and the most experience of the six two year olds that are set to contest the first race on the nine event Eagle Farm program on Saturday. Sizzling Babe was strong at the end of 1300m last start when third in a similar class race and looks the one to beat. Broncks, Dark Archer and Just Cosmos will have taken great benefit from recent racing.

Race 2 - 12:57pm AEST

Class 6 Handicap (1000m)

Crusher has good first up form and his Toowoomba form was solid before a spell and has Jeff Lloyd in the saddle. Jetsonic will be fitter for one run back from a spell and is a three times winner over the 1000m. Raiden is racing in fine form with a win and a second from his last two starts but has to be content with a wide barrier and One Stryke has to be included among the chances on his last start second over this course and distance.

BenchMark 75 Handicap (2212m)

Perfect Witness has been racing in career best form with two wins and a second from his last three starts, the latest over this course and distance and will be one of the main chances again. High Wind has been knocking on the door with two seconds from his last two starts and will be in the firing line for a long time from the inside gate. Jet Train was a last start winner in similar company over a similar distance and can’t be left out of calculations and look for improvement from Wu Gok.

F&M BenchMark 80 Handicap (1200m)

Trainer Tony Gollan has put the blinkers on Shalwa after her last start defeat at Doomben as the odds on favourite and she is worth following. Manaya had strong form last Winter for a race like this and will strip fitter for a first up fifth over this course and distance. Splitter comes to town on the back of a last start win at the Gold Coast and Foxy Housewife is fitter for recent racing.

Class 3 Plate (1400m)

The Chris Munce trained Zoucara is the winner of her last three starts and can go on her winning way from barrier one. Courage Within gets his chance in the city following a win at the Gold Coast, Francisca gets another chance after running second last start over this course and distance and Keirabella is on the improve.

QTIS 3yo Handicap (1840m)

Trainer Chris Waller and jockey Jeff Lloyd team up again with Tatcee and it is hard to go past the three year old on her last start win over 1600m at Eagle Farm. Rocknavar has consistent form and will get all the favours from the inside gate and Dawson Diva and Borazon can be included among the chances.

Race 7 - 4:12pm AEST

Open Handicap (1400m)

Chris Waller and Jeff Lloyd combine again with Jaminzah who is a last start winner over this course and distance and looks the one to beat. Veladero chased home his stablemate Jaminzah’s last start and can figure in the finish again. Waller’s third runner Impasse was a close second last start and Order Again has raced well fresh in the past.

C,G&E Benchmark 80 Handicap (1200m)

Capital Connection has the form on the board and is looking to make it back to back wins at Eagle Farm with Jeff Lloyd in the saddle again. Super Suave will get the run of the race from the inside gate, Exceedingly comes to town after a second at the Gold Coast and King Lear has plenty of weight to contend with heading back to Eagle Farm.

Race 9 - 5:30pm AEST

Class 6 Handicap (1600m)

Reckless Choice is chasing a hat trick after wins at Doomben and Eagle Farm and looks hard to beat on his latest win over the same course and distance as this week’s contest. High Mist can do better than his last start sixth, Shadal has been racing well, but has to overcome a wide gate and The Avenger is one for the exotics.
