Eagle Farm Race Day Preview – Saturday 23rd March

QTIS 2yo Handicap (1400m)

Sizzling Babe is a last start winner over the same course and distance as this week’s contest and looks the one to beat again. Look for improvement from Pull Anchor with the blinkers on, Hit Snooze is stepping up to Saturday class on the back of a mid-week maiden win and Magic Beans has each way claims.

QTIS 3yo Handicap (2200m)

Tatcee was a winner over 1600m at Eagle Farm two starts back and is stepping up to the 2200m this week after a last start fourth over 1840m. Tatcee has the Chris Waller polish and is worth following. Mullaghmore beat Tatcee home last start is also taking the step up in distance as is Borazon.

BenchMark 70 Handicap (1500m)

Benfica Princess stormed home at big odds for a first up Eagle Farm win over 1400m and gets her chance to prove that it wasn’t a fluke. Ponytales has been knocking on the door after being runner up as her last two starts and can be thereabouts again. Seahampton is stepping up to Saturday class after a mid-week Doomben win and Tivoli Street has the job ahead from a wide barrier but will be running on.

QTIS 3yo Jewel (1200m)

Defence Missile has the inside gate and Jeff Lloyd in the saddle and gets the chance to go one better than his last start second at Doomben. MacEwen has performed well at his last three starts for two wins and a third and will be thereabouts again. Barefoot has been freshened up after a narrow defeat at the Sunshine Coast and Trail Of Glory needs luck from a wide gate but will be doing his best work at the finish.

QTIS 3yo Handicap (1000m)

Jami Lady had some good performances over the Summer, has a good fresh record and looks the one to beat resuming. Pizonie has the benefit of one run from a spell for a second at the Sunshine Coast, has drawn the rails and will get the gun run. Usmanov has won a Gold Coast barrier trial in preparation for his return to the race track and Silver Melody heads North following a win at Wyong.

Open Handicap (1000m)

Mr Marbellouz looks the one to beat here but the speedster is also an acceptor for the Goldmarket and looks likely to head to the Gold Coast on Saturday. Guard Of Honour has plenty of weight to contend with but has a good fresh record and has a bit of class about him. Jadentom is back in Brisbane after an unplaced run at Randwick and is better suited here and Ours To Keep can do better from the inside gate.

BenchMark 80 Handicap (1800m)

See The Master has earned a shot at a city Saturday race after two wins at the Gold Coast and has a great chance to record a hat trick of wins. Kubis is racing well in weaker class with a third and a win at his last two outings and will be thereabouts again. Get Stuck In is trying to extend his winning run to four straight and Clevanicc is a last start Newcastle winner.

Open Handicap (1500m)

Chris Waller has a strong hand here and it would not surprise to see him quinella the race with Jaminzah and Impasse. The Waller stable will also saddle up Veladero and The Lord Mayor while the Brian Smith trained Order Again is fitter for one run back from a spell.

Race 9 - 5:30pm AEST

Class 6 Handicap (1200m)

Team Snowden have sent Spin North looking for success and he will be hard to beat on his last start third at Randwick. Curdled and Scallopini are both chasing a hat trick of wins and Tabbing is on the improve with a last start Eagle Farm second.
