Daily Racing Tips – Golden Slipper Day Special
Rosehill Gardens - Race 2 12.10pm AEDT
No. 1 Gem Song
Classique Legend is a deserving favourite in the Darby Munro Stakes, but there is no way that he should be as short as his current odds. Gem Song hasn’t produced a poor performance during his racing career to date and he beat a strong field than this to win the Eskimo Prince Stakes first-up. There is no way that he should be going around at such juicy odds.
Rosehill Gardens - Race 6 3:45pm AEDT
No. 2 Avilius
Avilius’ run in the Australian Cup at Flemington last start was too bad to be true and he was found with a black eye after the race. I am confident that trainer James Cummings would not have the horse in the Ranvet Stakes if he wasn’t back to peak fitness. His form before the Australian Cup had been outstanding and if he brings his best form to the races, he is the horse to beat.
Rosehill Gardens - Race 7 4.30pm AEDT
No. 2 Microphone
Microphone has done nothing wrong during his racing career to date and he is the value runner in what is a very open edition of the Golden Slipper. He showed his quality with an excellent win in the Talindert Stakes and he proved that was no fluke with a strong effort in the Skyline Stakes. He beat Cosmic Force in that contest and he franked that form with a dominant victory in the Pago Pago Stakes.
Rosehill Gardens - Race 8 5:10pm AEDT
No. 1 Redzel
He has a big weight in The Galaxy, but Redzel is still the horse to beat. The wet track is ideal for him as he has an excellent record on a heavy surface and it may not be handled by the likes of Nature Strip. He didn’t look fit when he was beaten by Ball Of Muscle first-up in the Challenge Stakes and he will strip much fitter for this contest. The last time these sort of odds were available for Redzel, he won The Everest in the canter.
