2019 Weetwood Handicap Day Preview

QTIS 2yo Handicap (1100m)

Magic Palace has all the ingredients to be a winner of the QTIS two year old Handicap, the first race on Weetwood Handicap Day at Toowoomba on Saturday. The Kris Lees trained filly won on debut at Coffs Harbour and Jeff Lloyd is certain to give her every chance from a mid-field barrier. Gem Of Scotland is the winner of her only two starts and is stepping up in distance at her first run on her home track. Bold Eos and Quart Pot were both debut winners.

F&M BenchMark 75 Handicap (1300m)

Locally trained Angel Dane is the winner of her last two starts, her latest on her home track and has a great chance to score a hat trick of wins. Tony Gollan has three chances with Splitter, Light Up The Boom and Dream Kisses and Lady Bing is one for the locals.

C,G&E BenchMark 75 Handicap (1300m)

Pressway is a winner over this course and distance and gets his chance for an overdue win in the BenchMark 75 Handicap. Beacon can be in the mix again following his win over the Toowoomba 1300m course. Tabbing and Clouds have place chances.

QTIS 3yo Handicap (1200m)

The Chris Munce trained Racecourse Road was an all the way winner at the Gold Coast last start and will be the one to catch again. It’s hard to go past the combination of Chris Waller and Jeff Lloyd and they will team up with Veranes in the 3yo Handicap. Spirit’s Choice is a winner over this course and distance and Usmanov is on the improve.

Toowoomba Guineas (1625m)

Zoucara made it a hat trick with wins at the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and Eagle Farm before her last start fourth at Eagle Farm and gets her chance to return to the winner’s stall. Barefoot was narrowly beaten over 1600m at the Sunshine Cast two starts back and looks suited here. Gem Dealer has some handy Sydney form and Proud Roc can put some value into the exotics for the locals.

BenchMark 80 Handicap (1625m)

Veladero has struggled to live up to his early potential but won’t get a better chance to find the winner’s stall. Ponytales can do better than his last start suggests, Reiby The Red has fair overall form and Urban Ruler is facing a huge drop in class and can do better.

Toowoomba Cup (2000m)

The strength of the Chris Waller stable is in full force here with The Lord Mayor, Xebec, Vaucluse Bay and Follow Suit all in with a chance. First Crush indicated that he was back on track with a second over 1615m at Doomben and will be running on again.

Race 8 - 5:03pm AEST

Weetwood Handicap (1200m)

Malvern Estate has been knocking on the door with placings at his last three starts and should figure in the finish again. Tyzone is chasing a hat trick after two wins at the Gold Coast and is one of the main chances again. Cellarman is better suited over longer but could be running on while fresh and Sexy Eyes has a handy fresh record.

Class 6 Plate (1100m)

Capital Connection is racing in outstanding form with wins at his last two starts and has a great chance to record a hat trick here. Meet Mr Taylor suffered his first defeat from six starts when fourth at Doomben and gets his chance to bounce back. Cool Sequence is also chasing a hat trick but has drawn awkwardly and Taillevent is one for the multiples.
