Wyong - Race 3 2:10pm AEST

No. 2 Splendid Surprise

Splendid Surpise broke through for his maiden win at this track last start by over four lengths and I can’t see why he couldn’t go back to back here. He is a lightly raced four year old gelding who has plenty of upside and if he can overcome a tricky gate his class should take him a long way in a race of this quality.

Wyong - Race 5 3:20pm AEST

No. 13 Camp Rifle

It was hard to ignore the run of Camp Rifle at Hawkesbury last time out when he burst through the pack to just miss. James Cummings stepped him back in distance from his maiden win over the 1200m and I think he will appreciate getting out over the extra distance for this race. He is a lightly raced horse with plenty of ability and he can progress to a better grade of racing than this.

Wyong - Race 6 3:55pm AEST

No. 16 Connemara

Connemara was racing very consistently without winning this prep before she broke through for a much deserved victory last start at Randwick over the 1400m. She was not beaten far by Stella Sea Sun and Haut Brian Her who are both very handy horses on the rise previous to her win and although this is a steep step on in grade, she has a fair amount of class. She should be plenty fit for this latest assignment and she is one of the fancied horses that has actually drawn well.

Wyong - Race 7 4:35pm AEST

No. 17 Mongolian Wolf

This is a very open edition of the Wyong Gold Cup and I think Mongolian Wolf is well over the odds at $26. He is a horse that has been racing well of late and is capable of a high rating performance on his day. If he can get a nice run in transit from barrier 10 and the race is run to suit, he can finish over them all and cause an upset.
