Race 1 - 12:30pm
Very Special Kids Pin And Win Plate (2500m)
Harrison will take good improvement into his second campaign run on Saturday and will relish a rise in trip, and a return to HQ. The son of Sixties Icon mustered a decent turn of foot to finish on the placegetters’ heels at The Valley three weeks ago and there is virtually no doubt that these conditions will be far more appropriate for him. This is a decent field of stayers, but he is up to the class and is a live each-way chance of winning.

Listed Cap D’Antibes Stakes (1100m)
The Cap D’Antibes is always a good contest and this year’s
edition looks like being no exception to that rule. It is also shaping as one
of the most open races on Makybe Diva Stakes Day and at publish, we’re faced
with around $5 the field.
Given this is a dash down the straight, I’ll be happy to
have something each-way on the Godolphin-trained Athiri at her current price
($8). She returned several pleasing efforts and results as a two-year-old and
has so-far finish fifth in a couple of black type races in Sydney this time in.

Listed Exford Plate (1400m)
Missile Mantra returned a fair effort first-up a fortnight ago but will take good improvement into her second-up appearance in the Exford Plate and is up to winning. The Smart Missile filly was undefeated during her debut prep, which included a smart win at Listed level, and she should be able to get some cover from barrier 13 on Saturday, before calling on her turn of foot.

Listed The Sofitel (1400m)
Tarwin hasn’t been seen at the races since April, but he is
a talented galloper and can make a winning return in The Sofitel, at a price.
The Americain gelding has recorded three wins and a close-up second through
only four career starts and has had the benefit of a trial in the lead-up to
this race. If he returns in anything close to his autumn form, he’ll take a
power of beating.

Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1200m)
The field that has accepted for this year’s Danehill Stakes
is outstanding and there is a case to be made for more than half of the eleven
South Australian Dalasan has returned to the races in slick
form again this time and looks up to winning again. The Dalakhani colt recorded
two wins when debuting in autumn and ended his prep second in the Group 2 VRC
Sires’, and there was a lot to like about the way he hit the line to win the
Group 3 Spring Stakes four weeks ago; beating the likes of subsequent Group 1
winner Scales Of Justice. There isn’t better form than that leading into this
race and the colt will only improve.

Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m)
Fundamentalist was arguably out of her depth when she stepped out in the Memsie Stakes second-up, but she’ll take good improvement into her third campaign start and will relish a return to mares’ company in the Let’s Elope Stakes. The four-year-old was unlucky not to record a win at the highest level in autumn, and there was a lot to like about her first-up run for third in the Regal Roller Stakes. She’s drawn well and will take beating – the $6 on offer at publish is over the odds.

Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m)
This is an outstanding edition of the Makybe Diva Stakes, but it is extremely difficult to find a case for Mystic Journey not just winning again. The Needs Further mare has now recorded seven-consecutive wins and resumed this time for an easy win in the Group 2 PB Lawrence. Her two career best performances to date were recorded at this track and distance and she’s sure to have improved from her first-up run.
Kings Will Dream was good off a long layoff, a bad injury
and in less than ideal conditions when fifth in the Group 1 Winx Stakes and he
looks to be the value in Makybe Diva Stakes betting. The Casamento gelding’s
form at HQ is good and he is another horse that will relish getting out to a

Group 2 Bobbie Lewis Quality (1200m)
The Bobbie Lewis is set to be the most open race on 2019
Makybe Diva Stakes Day and at publish, we’re faced with $6 the field.
Streets Of Avalon is typically outstanding down the
Flemington straight and looks a live chance again, at a price. The Magnus gelding
won multiple black type races last time in and beat the likes of Theanswermyfriend
and Widgee Turf here at HQ. He’ll enjoy good improvement off his run in The Heath
and can fight out the finish.

Vale Russell Cameron (1700m)
Captain Cook has improved with two starts this time and is
primed to win the last on Makybe Diva Stakes Day. The seven-year-old gelding
mustered an eye-catching turn of foot to run on for second in the Listed
Heatherlie at Caulfield last time out and should be able to find a good
position in transit from a central draw. With even luck, he’s up to winning a
race of this quality.
