Race 1 - 12:53pm

QTIS 3yo Handicap (1250m)

Love Is Blind is chasing a hat trick after wins at Townsville and Cairns and is the one to beat again. Mt Peter Miss is on the improve with a last start third over this course and distance and is facing similar opposition. Bonnezone will get every chance up on the pace and Lunch With Coops was a Cairns winner two starts back.

Race 2 - 1:28pm

Class 6 Plate (950m)

Chapel Road was a winner over this course and distance before finishing third over 1000m at Townsville and has strong claims again. Starena has a good record at Cairns with a win and four placings from seven starts on the track and heads back to Cannon Park following a win at Innisfail. Nic’s Time has the blinkers on and Fine ‘N’ Devine is a winner over this course and distance.

Race 3 - 2:02pm

Class 3 Plate (1250m)

Robert Thompson rides last start Cairns winner Mister Magnusifent and the four year old will present as one of the main chances again. Riel Reward’s Victorian form is good enough to be very competitive here. Sparkly Star hasn’t missed a place from his last eight starts, which includes two wins, and he is certain to be amongst the prizemoney and Power Of Divas heads back to Cairns on the back of an Atherton win.

BenchMark 69 Handicap (1250m)

Tapthetill hasn’t run a bad race since November last year with four placings and three wins from seven starts and has strong claims again. Hot Shot Harry is a last start Townsville winner, Strong Will has been placed at her last two starts at Innisfail and Mareeba and Robert Thompson can improve Lushan.

Race 5 - 3:13pm

BenchMark 60 Handicap (1900m)

Barwon has the form on the broad after being runner up at his last two starts at Innisfail and Ingham and has the assistance off Robert Thompson on Saturday. Poetic Attacks was a winner over 1600m at Cairns two starts back before running fourth at Townsville. While We Can has consistent form with a win and four placings from his last six starts and Captains Way heads back to Cairns on the back of a win over 2000m at Ingham.

Race 6 - 3:53pm

Class 1 Handicap (1500m)

Canford Tree broke through for his maiden win last start at Rockhampton and will be one of the main chances again. Honest Natalie was a Townsville Maiden winner two starts back before finishing second at Townsville again and has to be included among the main hopes. Clout is stepping up in distance after a third over 1250m at Cairns and Nick’s Night Out is not the worst with three placings from his last four starts.

Race 7 - 4:33pm

Cairns Amateur Cup (2100m)

It is hard to go past The Harrovian who is the winner of his last three starts which includes the Townsville Cup (2000m) and the Cairns Cup over the same course and distance as the Cairns Amateur Cup. Follow Suit and Astoria will be trying to turn the tables on The Harrovian after finishing second and third in the Cairns Cup and One More Edition is working his way up through the grades with wins at his last two starts in restricted class at Rockhampton and will appreciate a 5kg drop in the weights.

Race 8 - 5:14pm

Open Handicap (1400m)

Grey Missile hasn’t been far off the mark of late with a second at Cairns and a third at Townsville and a nice drop in the weights will help his chances. Scherzoso was a winner over this course and distance three starts back and heads back to Cairns following a second at Mackay. Polar Blast hardly runs a bad race, Space Time is also always thereabouts and Cedarwood comes into calculations with two wins and a second at his last two starts in North Queensland.
