Race 1 - 11:53pm

QTIS 2yo Fillies Plate (1000m)

The two year old fillies are making their race day debut on Saturday with several barrier trial winners set to face the starter for the first time. The Tony Gollan trained Lady Grazier won an 800m Eagle Farm trial with Jim Byrne taking the ride on the Not A Single Doubt filly on Saturday. Steven O’Dea’s filly Gotta Kiss, also by Not A Single Doubt, was also an Eagle Farm trial winner. Gold Coast trained fillies Press Start and Loving Miss finished first and third in a trial on their home track. Race day betting will be the best guide for the debutants.

QTIS 2yo C&G Plate (1000m)

The two year old colts and geldings get a chance to show their wares in the second race. Randwick trainers Peter and Paul Snowden have entered the Written Tycoon colt Remorseless who ran second in an 852m trial on the Kensington track at Randwick and is worth considering. Eagle Farm trainer Steven O’Dea will saddle up the Spill The Beans colt Tumbler Ridge who was an impressive 800m trial winner on his home track. Market Trader was also an 800m Eagle Farm trial winner while the Chris Munce trained Kavak was too slick for his rivals in an 840m Doomben trial. Race day betting will be the best guide for the debutants.

Open Handicap (1200m)

The Gerald Ryan trained Sydney sprinter Deploy will strip fitter for one run back from a spell and is facing a huge drop in class after his first up fifth in the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes over 1300m at Rosehill. Will be hard to beat in this company. Scallopini returned from a spell in winning form over this this course and distance but is up 2kg for that effort. Tawfiq Boy comes out of Kris Lees’ Gold Coast stable and heads to Eagle Farm a last start winner in a BenchMark 87 Handicap at Lismore and will appreciate the 8kg drop in weight. Baccarat Baby proved to be amongst the best local three year olds during the Brisbane Winter Carnival and is one to keep an eye on at her first run as a four year mare.

QTIS 3yo Handicap (1800m)

Guntantes and Profit fought out the finish last start when they were first and second in a 1600m 3yo Handicap at Eagle Farm when they were stablemates under the Anderson Heathcote Racing banner. The training partnership has been dissolved and both three year olds will race under their respective trainers names and it looks likes they will fight out the finish again. Don’t Waiver was a well beaten third in the same race while Blazing Sunrise heads to town after breaking his Maiden status at Grafton last start.

Race 5 - 2:17pm

BenchMark 70 Handicap (1800m)

Picaro is racing well over this course and distance and drops 1.5kg on his last start fourth at Eagle Farm over 1835m and will be thereabouts again. Joymaker was a winner at the Sunshine Coast two starts back and makes an appearance on the Saturday circuit following a second at a recent mid-week Doomben meeting. Jim Byrne rides the Kelly Schweida trained four year old and will give her a soft run from the inside gate. It is hard to fault Amicitia’s Provincial form of three wins and a third from her last four starts and she should figure amongst the prizemoney again and Peak Hill has solid Northern Rivers form.

Class 3 Handicap (1200m)

Macewen has missed a place at his last two outings as favourite but gets his chance to redeem himself here with a 5kg drop in weight to help his chances. Cabin Fever will be fitter for a first up sixth, only beaten one and a quarter lengths, is facing a nice drop in class and is a winner second up in the past. Fuji Flyer has winning Gold Coast form and will also appreciate a 3kg weight drop on his last start third in a 1200m Doomben Class 3. First emergency Written With Ease comes into consideration if she gains a start in the final field.

BenchMark 85 Handicap (1600m)

Trainer Tony Gollan and jockey Jim Byrne team up with Galtero who is not far off another win following a last start third over 2000m in a Doomben BenchMark 85 Handicap. Boncasta has winning Northern Rivers form with victories at Murwillumbah and Lismore and has earned himself a chance to take on city company. Aqua Vite is on the improve with a last start second over 1615m in a Doomben Class 6 last Saturday and Mr Storm is chasing a hat trick after wins at the Gold Coast and Doomben.

Spring Cup (2225m)

Winning Ways showed her staying ability during the Brisbane Winter Carnival with her win in the Group 1 Queensland Oaks (2200m) at Doomben. The Garry Newham trained mare has had two runs back from a spell and gets her chance to return to the winner’s stall stepping up to a suitable distance. Alward is fitter for one run back from a spell and is also stepping up to a favourable distance. Outraged is in the same boat coming off a fourth over 2000m at Doomben in a BenchMark 85 Handicap and has a nice drop in the weights. Ocean Addict was rewarded for her consistency with a win over 2200m at Eagle Farm last start and can figure amongst the prizemoney again.

Class 6 Plate (1400m)

The Chris Waller trained Auerbach has been runner up at his last two starts at Eagle Farm and Doomben and gets his chance to go one better at Eagle Farm on Saturday. Sienna Rose is chasing a hat trick after two wins over the same course and distance as Saturday’s assignment. Enterprise Prince is the winner of three of his last four starts and Langhro is looking for his third win on the trot after victories at the Gold Coast and Doomben
