The Socceroos play their first home match on the Quest for Qatar, taking on Nepal in Canberra.

After beginning their campaign with a 3-0 away to Kuwait, Graham Arnold’s men will be eager to put on a show for their first match in the nation’s capital since defeating Kyrgyzstan 3-0 in 2015.

We have previewed the match and found our recommended betting plays for this World Cup Qualifier here.

Australia Vs Nepal

Thursday 10 October, 7:30pm, GIO Stadium, Canberra

All things considered, this should be a walk in the park for the Socceroos, Nepal lost its first game to Kuwait 7-0 before responding with a 2-0 win to Chinese Taipei, who Australia plays next Tuesday.

With their main rivals for the group Jordan in action at home to Kuwait, this is a good opportunity for the Socceroos to put up a big score early and help out their goal difference.

Even though they did get by Kuwait, their attack did seem a little bit lacklustre and there is no doubt that Graham Arnold would like his side to show a bit more ruthlessness in front of goal.

Adam Taggart is likely to get the call to lead the line in this game, making the most of his spectacular K-League form which has seen him score 16 goals this season.

Although his recent numbers aren’t great, it’s been nearly two months since his last goal for his club side.

Plus in situations like this, the goalscorer markets don’t really offer a lot of value considering the relative mismatch between the two sides so don’t force a bet in that one unless there’s someone you really want to back.

Instead, look for the Socceroos to win with a clean sheet and to score plenty, especially early on.
