Daily Racing Tips – Victoria Derby Day Special

Flemington - Race 2 12:20am AEDT
No. 1 Flit
Flit has a huge class edge over her rivals in the Wakeful Stakes and it is a surprise that she is not an odds-on favourite for this contest. She showed her quality with a fighting win in the Thousand Guineas and she gives the impression that the step-up to 2000 metres will suit. The 58 kilograms shouldn’t be an issue and in a Handicap she would be giving her rivals much more weight.
Flemington - Race 5 2:20pm AEDT
No. 2 Melody Belle
Melody Belle is the best horse in New Zealand and she will prove very tough to beat in the Empire Rose Stakes. She goes into this contest on the back of three straight Group 1 wins in the Tarzino Trophy, Windsor Park Plate and the Livamol Classic and she would have been in the mix in the Ladbrokes Cox Plate. With even luck in running, it is tough to see her getting beaten.
Flemington - Race 6 3:00pm AEDT
No. 2 Bivouac
Bivouac beat Yes Yes Yes to win the Run To The Rose and the Golden Rose before he had no luck in running whatsoever in the Ladbrokes Manikato Stakes. You can put a pen through that run and his form before that had been truly elite. He can return to winning form and claim another Group 1 win in the Coolmore Stud Stakes.
Flemington - Race 7 3:45pm AEDT
No. 1 Shadow Hero
This is an excellent edition of the Victoria Derby and Shadow Hero is the horse to beat. He was nothing short of dominant when he won the Gloaming Stakes and proved too classy for Castelvecchio in the Spring Champion Stakes. That form was franked in a big way in the Ladbrokes Cox Plate. The step-up to 2500 metres looks ideal and he seems primed for this contest.
