QTIS 2yo Handicap (1000m)

The two year olds kick off Mooloolaba Cup Day at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday and all but two of the youngsters are facing the starter for the first time. The Stuart Kendrick trained Way Beyond has the advantage of one race start for a third at Eagle Farm and is also trained at the Sunshine Coast. Dusty Tycoon has trialled twice in preparation for her debut with a second at Doomben and a win in a 650m trial at Deagon and the betting ring will be the best guide. All Good Millo has been placed twice in two barrier trials at the Gold Coast and first starter Trust In Aloha is a stablemate of Way Beyond.

Race 2 - 1:03pm

Class 3 Plate (1800m)

Dawson Diva is yet to win beyond 1600m but steps up to the 1800m following her win over 1600m at Eagle Farm and gets her chance here. A Man To Match is fitter for one run back from a spell and will have no trouble stepping up to the 1800m after a first up fourth over 1400m at Eagle Farm. Toga Picta has two placings on his home track at the Sunshine Coast from his last three starts and can get amongst the prizemoney again and So Dapper is chasing a hat trick at the Sunshine Coast after wins in a 1400m Maiden and a 1600m Class 1.

Race 3 - 1:38pm

1MW Handicap (1400m)

Coral Bay is a last start winner at the Sunshine Coast and will get a lovely run from barrier two and will be hard to beat again. Drumbeat’s Choice was winner over this course and distance two starts back and will also get every chance from a nice barrier. The tongue control and lugging bit go on Mewstone Rock following his fifth over 1400m at Eagle Farm and Prince Of Tie has handy form around the provincials.

Race 4 - 2:17pm

BenchMark 80 Handicap (2200m)

Sir Barnabus is racing in fine form with two placings and a win from his last three starts. Scored over 1800m in a Class 6 Handicap at Eagle Farm two starts back and was then runner up in a similar race last start and has won over 2200m in the past. Lord Gododdin was a beaten favourite last start over 2400m at Eagle Farm but is worth another chance here. Drumadoir is a last start winner over this track and distance but is stepping up in class and Picka Plum is a five times winner at the Sunshine Coast but is stepping out over 2200m first up and could be tested.

Race 5 - 2:53pm

QTIS 3yo C&G Handicap (1000m)

Raging Pole was a winner over this course and distance at his last run before a break and has enough gate speed to overcome the wide barrier. Ready To Roam is also a winner over the Sunshine Coast 1000m course and heads back there after being well beaten as favourite over 1200m at Eagle Farm. Kalik scored first up from a spell over the 1000m here and will get a nice run from the rails draw and Le Palmier is resuming and has won first up in the past.

BenchMark 70 Handicap (1200m)

Copywriter heads back to the Sunshine Coast after a fifth over 1200m at Eagle Farm. Was a winner over this course and distance three starts back and is suited here. Dreamreacher has handy Eagle Farm form with a win two starts back followed by a third as favourite over 1400m and looks well placed here. Former New South Wales galloper Doctor Zous has had two barrier trial wins at the Sunshine Coast and Doomben in preparation for his first run for new trained Darryl Hansen and I Dream Of Green is better suited heading back to the Sunshine Coast.

Race 7 - 4:12pm

Swiss Ace Plate (1000m)

Tarzan is a nine times winner over the 1000m Sunshine Coast course, is the winner of his last four starts, twice at the Sunshine Coast and once at Doomben and Eagle Farm and is the obvious one to beat. Capital Connection is also a short course specialist with wins at his last two starts at Doomben and Eagle Farm looks likes being amongst the prizemoney again. Meet Mr Taylor will give plenty of cheek from the inside gate and Tycoon Ace has a good first up record.

Race 8 - 4:48pm

Mooloolaba Cup (1600m)

The Candy Man has returned from an unsuccessful Sydney campaign that saw him unplaced in four starts in much harder company and will appreciate the huge drop in class here and is a winner on the track. Zofonic Dancer is a last start Eagle Farm winner over 1600m and is a winner over this course and distance. Reckless Choice has consistent recent form with one win and three placings from his last four starts at Eagle Farm and Tumultuous is fitter for one run back from a spell.

Race 9 - 5:30pm

QTIS 3yo Fillies Handicap (1000m)

Better Reflection was narrowly beaten second up as favourite but gets her chance to bounce back here. Howwonderfullifeis failed to complete the hat trick when fourth over 1200m at Eagle Farm and will be better suited back to 1000m. Jeweliana has good two year old form with two wins and a third from three starts and has a Doomben barrier trial second in the lead up to her return and Centrefire was an impressive six lengths Doomben trial winner in readiness for her return.
