QTIS 2yo Handicap (1000m)

Uncle Frank gets his chance in town following an eight and a half lengths win in a Toowoomba Maiden and will get all the favours from the rails draw from the 1000m starting point. The Chris Waller trained first start Grenado has shown plenty in two recent Gold Coast barrier trial wins but has drawn an awkward gate. Ready For Magic is stepping up to Saturday class after breaking through for his Maiden win at Doomben and Mass Destruction has been placed at his only two starts at Doomben but will jump from the outside gate in the ten horse field.

Race 2 - 1:24pm

Class 3 Plate (1000m)

Pizonie hasn’t been far off the mark with a win and a placing from three recent starts and should get a nice run from barrier five. Mittere is fitter for one run back from a spell for a second over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast and looks suited here. Ramtastic has reasonable for in similar company and Emerald Kingdom was a first up winner in a Doomben Class 2 but has to carry the top weight of 59kg.

Race 3 - 2:02pm

BenchMark 80 Handicap (2200m)

Capital Gain will have no trouble with the 2200m, having won over 2400, and is coming off a last start fourth over 2218m at Eagle Farm three weeks ago. The Paul Butterworth trained stayer will also appreciate apprentice Adin Thompson’s 3kg claim. Art Attack is fitter for recent racing and will also have no trouble handing the 2200m as he is a winner over this course and distance and is coming off a last start third over 2206m at Eagle Farm. Romakash was doing his best work at the end of 2200m when fourth at Doomben and Travistee is a two times winner over 2200m.

Race 4 - 2:42pm

0 – 70 Handicap (1500m)

Mosshiki has been freshened up since finishing third in the Group 3 2206m Grand Prix Stakes at Eagle Farm and will appreciate a huge drop in class. The Kingdom had a win and a second at the Gold Coast before finishing a close up fifth over this course and distance and should get a nice run from a middle gate. Apprentice Adin Thompson’s 3kg claim will also come in handy again. Starbuster can mix his form and after winning at Doomben two starts back was well beaten when sixth over 1820m at Eagle Farm but should get every chance from gate three and Last Light has place claims.

Race 5 - 3:22pm

Open Handicap (1600m)

Cool Chap made up plenty of ground last start over this course and distance when third after being specked at long odds and his followers will get a chance to get their money back here in a slightly easier contest. Cruze was well beaten last Saturday when eleventh in the $1m Magic Millions Trophy at the Gold Coast but if he can back up will be better suited this class. New Universe is fitter for two runs back from a spell in Sydney and Le Juge was well beaten over this course and distance last start but can do better.

Race 6 - 4:02pm

QTIS 3yo Fillies Handicap (1200m)

Take Tea took no part in the race first up when her saddle slipped at the start but her form before a spell was good enough for her to be winning here. The Les Kelly trained filly has won three times from seven starts. Mishani Romance has been placed at her last two starts and defied her long double figure odds when third in a 1200m Metro class 3yo Handicap at the Gold Coast last start. Say Haya beat Mishani Romance home last start but has drawn awkwardly while Roasted has handy form in weaker Sunshine Coast company.

Mr Bellagio is fitter for two runs back from a spell and is ready to step up to the 1400m. Great Powers was also rewarded for his consistency with a win over 1500m at Eagle Farm last start but has drawn an awkward gate and Galtero has handy fresh form.

Race 9 - 5:54pm

BenchMark 90 Handicap (1200m)

Manaya had some handy form before a break and has trialled twice at the Gold Coast for a win and a second in preparation for her return to the track and expect a forward showing. Pennino has been thereabouts at four runs back from a spell, with his best effort being a last start third over this course and distance and can figure amongst the prizemoney again. Ice Frost found the winner’s stall last start at the Gold Coast in a 1200m Metro Class 6 and Dream Master has been consistent with three seconds from his last three starts at Grafton, Doomben and Eagle Farm.
