Peter Moody’s 2020 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes Tips
The Black Caviar Lightning Stakes is a very important race to champion trainer and Ladbrokes Ambassador Peter Moody and he will be on track at Flemington on Saturday with the great mare!
Moody has analysed the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes field and his complete 2020 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes tips are now available.
Winner – Nature Strip
Chris Waller has done an excellent job with Nature Strip and I now believe that he is clearly the best sprinter in Australia.
I would be shocked if he wasn’t able to get the job done in the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes.
There was plenty of merit in his run in The Everest, where he finished a gallant fourth behind Yes Yes Yes, and his performance in the Darley Sprint Classic was one of the best of the Spring Racing Carnival.
He is unbeatable over 1000 metres on his day and he has recorded four wins from as many race starts down the famous Flemington straight.
His two barrier trials ahead of his return to the races have been excellent and he is a very safe bet to record another Group 1 win.
2nd – Loving Gaby
Loving Gaby won the Ladbrokes Manikato Stakes during the Spring before she chased home Nature Strip in the VRC Sprint Classic in the Spring.
There is no reason that she can’t do the same in this contest.
She is a very talented filly in her own right and the three-year-olds are absolutely flying.
I expect her to settle behind the leading group and will be able to work home nicely for a credible second place finish.
3rd – Redzel
I still have Redzel in my top three, but it is tough to see him turning the tables on Nature Strip.
A horse like Loving Gaby still has the upside to improve and I’m not sure that you can say the same thing about Redzel at this stage of his career.
Redzel was soundly beaten home by Nature Strip in The Everest and I just don’t think that he has the motor to match it with Nature Strip over this distance.
4th – Gytrash
Gordon Richards has Gytrash absolutely flying and he is worthy of this opportunity in the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes.
His record over 1000 metres is outstanding and he finished his Spring campaign with a more than credible performance behind Crystal Dreamer in The Heath 1100 at Caulfield.
I’m not sure that he is up to the best sprinters in this contest, but I think that he will be the best of the rest.
