On This Day in Sports May 26th

On This Day: June 17

They say we should use this time to learn something new – so we thought we’d offer up a history lesson free of charge!

We’re going to be recapping all the important sporting moments each and every day as we look to fill the void our beloved sports have left behind.

So if it’s AFL, NRL, Basketball, Cricket, Golf or even Wrestling, be sure to return each morning as we take a trip back through the history books to relive some of the great sporting moments On This Day.

1994 – That Ford Bronco

Police took off in pursuit of OJ Simpson’s white Ford Bronco on this day in 1994, and while it technically isn’t sporting history, it to this day remains the most dramatic hour and a half of television ever produced.

2010 – No. 5

NBA fans were treated to a Game 7 on this day 10-years ago as the rival Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers met at the Staples Center.

The game was the first NBA Finals Game 7 since 2005, and boy did it live up to expectations.

After a back and forth battle, the Lakers walked away with the title in a four-point victory thanks to Kobe Bryant’s 23-point performance. Not surprisingly, he was crowned Finals MVP for a second straight year.
