Daily Racing Tips – Saturday 8th August
by Joshua Bell
Flemington - Race 1 12:05pm AEST
No. 4 South Pacific
South Pacific has had two nice runs in Australia now including close third behind Exemplar when he was beaten less than a length.
He should be ready to peak at his third run this prep and Damien Oliver will steer from barrier five.
Flemington - Race 2 12:40pm AEST
No. Yes Baby Yes
Yes Baby Yes put the writing on the wall in her racing debut when finishing fourth behind the smart Diala at Sandown before tackling a Group 3 a Morphettville.
She then came out and won comfortably after a freshen up at Seymour and if she is to progress to the Thousand Guineas (where she is nominated) she will be winning a race of this quality.
Flemington - Race 6 3:15pm AEST
No. 8 Trope
Trope was sent into the deep end in the Autumn when contesting back to back Group 1s and finishing down the track in the Oakleigh Plate and Newmarket Handicap.
He is a very talented horse who is much better suited at this level and he has a good first up record.
Looks great each way value at around the $12.00 mark.
Flemington - Race 8 4:30pm AEST
No. 2 Chicago Cub
I have a bit of time for the lightly raced five year old gelding Chicago Cub.
He went through his grades well last prep which culminated in back to back wins at Flemington.
He has drawn well in barrier three and I think he will be competitive in black type races over the spring.
