PUNTERS PAL

The Sea Eagles have barely fired a shot since Tommy Turbo went out with injury, but Ladbrokes punters were confident in their chances against the last-placed Bulldogs in Round 18 and were duly rewarded.

It took Manly 30 minutes to open their account, but it was essentially all one-way traffic from that point on.

They covered the line, a 100K bet on Manly to win lobbed and it proved to be a truly horrible 80 minutes for the book.

BOOKIES BEST

The Titans have been playing some terrific footy recently, but punters once again refused to abandon the Broncos in betting, and it led to a big win for the bookies.

The Broncos received a steady flow of support all week in match betting and at the line (3.5 points), while we also witnessed good attention for Over 45.5 in the Total Match Points market.

Darius Boyd opened the scoring, but not even that was a positive result for punters, and the bookies managed to record a comfortable win – their only one in three matches on Saturday.

FIRST TRY FILL UP

Only one player delivered punters an overall win in First Try Scorer betting this week, and it was South Sydney’s Dane Gagai.

Alex Johnston and Campbell Graham have been the two major targets for the Bunnies this season, but Gagai remains one of the league’s biggest threats and it took just ten minutes for the Maroons rep to cross the whitewash on Thursday night, at $8.50.

LEGENDARY LAND

This week goes to a punter who had to wait until the final minutes of Round 18 to count his cash.

Our punter in question was clearly confident in the Sharks’ chances of confirming their finals berth and selected four legs – Sione Katoa First Try Scorer, Sharks (-3.5), Sharks 1-12, Under 43.5 Total Match Points.

Offered odds of $47.75, our punter laid down $100 and enjoyed a Sunday evening to remember.

BACKING THE FUTURE

The Sharks’ win over the Warriors in Round 18 sealed the top eight, and the fate of countless Futures bets.

All movement this week was in Premiership betting, and it saw both the Roosters and Penrith firm most notably.

PREMIERSHIP MOVES

Roosters – $3.50 > $3
Panthers – $3.80 > $3.50
Eels – $9 < $13
Knights – $34 < $67
