We always get reminded there’s more football on in Europe than just the English Premier League so with that in mind, we are going to take a trip around the continent searching for some good value!
So whether your preference is for the resolute defending in Italy, the superstars in Spain, the technical precision in the Bundesliga or the one horse races in France and Scotland, we’ve got you covered.
Read on to see who we are backing this weekend here!
Saturday 26 September, 9:00pm, Estadio Menizorrotza
Alaves have not had the most encouraging start to a season, dropping their first two games.
Now they host Getafe who have only played once but did defeat an Osasuna side that at least looks somewhat competitive.
This should be a real arm wrestle of a match with both sides happy to win it with a solitary goal but on the balance of power, Getafe look like they are way over the odds at their current price.
It’s a value bet I’m happy to make.

Saturday 26 September, 11:00pm, Stadio Olimpico
The fairytale story in Europe last season, Atalanta gets its Serie A season underway in Matchweek 2 with a trip to Turin.
If it’s anything like their last trip to the Stadio Olimpico they will be very happy, in January they trounced Torino 7-0.
After finishing in third place last season and easily the highest scoring side in the competition, there is no reason to expect any sort of drop off from Atalanta here.
They have strengthened their squad all over the pitch and should start their campaign off with three points.

Saturday 26 September, 11:30pm, WWK Arena
We’ll head to Germany for this tip as Augsberg looks to take six points from its opening two Bundesliga fixtures for the first time in club history.
It won’t come easy for them as Dortmund look like they are ready to put together a proper title challenge after brushing aside Monchengladbach in their season opener.
This should be a fairly high scoring contest with both sides capable of scoring as many as needed but you have to like Dortmund to come away with the win here.
For some added value you can also back Over 2.5 goals with a bit of confidence.
The last four meetings between these sides have averaged an astonishing six goals per match with the three Dortmund victories having seven, six and eight.

Sunday 27 September, 2:30am, Veltins Arena
Both of these sides suffered rough season openers, perhaps none worse than Schalke who were trounced 8-0 by Bayern.
Thankfully for them, Bremen won’t exactly be feeling overly confident after getting belted by Hertha Berlin 4-1.
Historically this fixture has favoured the away side with six of the last seven going the way of the visitors.
Plus there is plenty of reason to back against Schalke at the moment, the club is a proper basket case and that loss last week won’t have helped stabilise things.

Monday 28 September, 5:00am, Nou Camp
This will be Barcelona’s first competitive fixture since their Champions League humiliation at the hands of Bayern Munich and the managerial debut of Ronald Koeman who has set about revamping this Barca squad.
They almost lost Lionel Messi and did see Arthur, Ivan Rakitic, Arturo Vidal, Nelson Semedo and most recently, Luis Suarez all depart.
Of course with it being Barcelona they still have a phenomenally talented squad and for them a “disappointing” La Liga season is anything less than being crowned champions.
There’s plenty of pressure on Koeman but you have to think that there is enough pride in this squad to see some sort of rebound, starting with this clash with Villareal.
Even in the midst of a miserable season Barca still managed to take six points off Villareal in 2019/2020.
Their last loss to them was in 2008 and I’ll back them to take a lead in the first half and hold on for the victory.
