European Football Preview – October 3/4

Facebooktwittermail

We’ve got five tips across four countries for the second week of our European Football Preview here!

Things get underway in Germany before trips to Spain, Italy, France and back to Germany as we search the continent for winners ahead of the international break!

Read on to see who we are backing below!

Frankfurt Vs TSG Hoffenheim

Saturday 3 October, 11:30pm, Commerzbank Arena

This might be one of the most appealing matches across the entire continent this weekend with a pair of unbeaten sides facing off.

Hoffenheim will be buzzing after not only defeating, but absolutely belting Bayern 4-1 last weekend however it does come with the note that Bayern were on a very quick turnaround after the UEFA Super Cup, although their backups could probably still win the Bundesliga outright.

Frankfurt picked up its first victory of the new season last weekend and will bring a four match winning run against Hoffenheim into this fixture.

When it’s this tough to split two sides, there’s probably a reason so the draw could be your best friend.

Real Sociedad Vs Getafe

Sunday 4 October, 3:30am, Reale Seguros Stadium

Both of these sides have built their foundations on stout defensive performances with both more than happy to take a match 1-0.

Getafe sits on top of La Liga with two wins and a draw and most importantly, no goals conceded and Real Sociedad have conceded just twice themselves in their two matches.

With seven goals between the two of them across seven matches, it’s hard to see this match featuring any free wheeling attacking play.

One goal should and probably will win this contest if either side is able to be broken down.

RB Leipzig Vs Schalke

Sunday 4 October, 3:30am, Red Bull Arena

Schalke’s dreadful start to the season continued with a 3-1 loss to Werder Bremen last weekend, and it won’t get any easier as they face RB Leipzig.

They did manage to spring an upset over them at Red Bull Arena last September but it’s hard to see any realistic path to victory here.

With a backline that has conceded 11 goals in their two matches so far and RB Leipzig looking to bounce back from a draw last weekend, there’s only one play to back and it’s the hosts in a game that should feature plenty of goals.

Back RB Leipzig to Win & Over 3.5 Goals @ $2.35

RC Strasbourg Vs LOSC Lille

Monday 5 October, 12:00am, Stade de la Meinau

Lille has enjoyed a fantastic start to the season and will look to make it six straight without defeat to begin the new campaign.

They look well and truly over the odds for their trip to RC Strasbourg here considering the hosts sit in 18th place on the Ligue 1 ladder with one win and four defeats from their opening five fixtures.

I’m happy to back Lille at their current price after completing the double over the hosts last season and looking like the better side through the opening few matches of the season.

Back Lille to Win @ $2.25

Juventus Vs SSC Napoli

Monday 5 October, 5:45am, Allianz Stadium

Napoli’s season could not have begun in stronger fashion, winning away to Parma and at home to Genoa while outscoring their opponents 8-0.

Juve on the other hand were held to a 2-2 draw by Roma and will go into this match without midfielder Adrien Rabiot after his sending off in that draw.

Thankfully for them they still have Cristiano Ronaldo and a great record at the Allianz Stadium where they have taken 53 of 60 points in their last 20 home Serie A matches.

Considering Juve head into this match at over even money at home, it’s a price you have to feel good about backing them in here.

Back Juventus to Win @ $2.02
