Daily Racing Tips – Ladbrokes Cox Plate Day Special
by Thomas Hackett
The Valley - Race 4 1:10pm AEDT
No. 2 Ecumenical
Ecumenical has had very little luck this preparation to date and she has the chance to return to winning form in the Lexus Fillies Classic.
Her runs in both the Thousand Guineas Prelude and the Thousand Guineas were both excellent without having any luck whatsoever and this contest is a genuine drop in class.
The Valley - Race 5 1:40pm AEDT
No. 2 Greysful Glamour
This looks like the ideal race for Greysful Glamour.
She bounced back from a poor run in the Stocks Stakes to finish a close second in the Angst Stakes and this contest is no tougher.
Kerrin McEvoy will be able to ride her aggressively from the wide barrier draw and it will take a good horse to run her down.
The Valley - Race 8 3:30pm AEDT
No. 10 Selino
This isn’t a vintage edition of the Moonee Valley Gold Cup and Selino brings some strong European form into the race.
He finished second in both the Chester Stakes and the Doncaster Cup this season and that form is more than good enough to win this race.
William Pike will have options from barrier nine and Selino is over the odds at his current quote.
The Valley - Race 9 4:15pm AEDT
No. 12 Armory
Aidan O’Brien was narrowly denied in the Caulfield Cup last weekend, but he has an excellent chance to claim the Ladbrokes Cox Plate with Armory.
Armory has a similar profile to 2014 Cox Plate winner Adelaide and his third place finish in the Irish Champion Stakes was outstanding.
He has tactical versatility and that could prove key in an open edition of the Ladbrokes Cox Plate.
