European Football Preview – November 7

Facebooktwittermail

Another international break is looming across Europe as league’s prepare for a week off.

The frantic fixturing continues all over the continent however with the big clubs looking to back up from Champions League and Europa League matches.

We’re heading all over to find our five best plays for the weekend ahead.

Mainz Vs Schalke

Sunday 8 November, 1:30am, Opel Arena

We’ll head to the bottom of the Bundesliga for this clash with last placed Mainz taking on second from last Schalke.

On the plus side for the visitors they are starting to put together something resembling a capable football team, picking up a pair of draws from their last three matches.

As for Mainz, there may not be a better time to turn their fortunes around with six losses from six matches, including their last five against teams in the top half of the table.

There is every likelihood that one team manages its first win of the season, but the total goals market has plenty of value in it.

Neither side can defend overly well with a combined 38 goals conceded so far this season.

I’ll happily take the overs in this instance.

Back Over 2.5 Goals @ $1.75

Metz Vs Dijon

Monday 9 November, 1:00am, Stade Municipal Saint-Symphorien

Metz has found a nice run of form picking up 14 points from its last six matches and keeping clean sheets in its last two.

They might struggle a bit in front of goal but Dijon is struggling all over the pitch at the moment and is winless through its first nine matches of the campaign.

I’ll happily back against the bottom placed side to remain anchored there through the international break.

Back Metz to Win @ $1.73

Real Sociedad Vs Granada

Monday 9 November, 2:15am, Reale Seguros Stadium

It might surprise the casual observer to find out that Sociedad is on top of the La Liga ladder (albeit having played an extra match than Real Madrid and two more than Atletico Madrid.

While this might not be the most exciting play or one to break the bank, it’s a fairly strategic move to try and shore up some fund heading into the international break.

Sociedad has won its last four matches and is in phenomenal goal scoring form.

Back Real Sociedad to Win @ $1.67

Bayer Leverkusen Vs Borussia Monchengladbach

Monday 9 November, 4:00am, BayArena

I’m ready to go all in on Monchengladbach this weekend in probably the second biggest clash of the round.

A win could vault them as high as third place as they trail Leverkusen by a single point.

Historically this has been a great fixture for the visitors with the last four going the way of the travelling team.

On top of that, Gladbach were very impressive during the week crushing Shakhtar 6-0 in the Champions League and the extra rest compared to Leverkusen in the Europa League will be telling as well.

Back Monchengladbach to Win @ $2.80

AC Milan Vs Verona

Monday 9 November, 6:45am, San Siro

This is one of the better Serie A matches to keen an eye on this weekend with Milan looking to maintain its lead on top of the ladder.

It’s hard to back against them at the moment with five wins and a draw so far this season and Verona’s record of just one win from its last four league matches.

I’ll back the league leaders to come away with a victory but not keep a clean sheet as they have gone three Serie A matches without one.

SGM: AC Milan to Win & Both Teams to Score @ $2.87
